New Front Load Speed Queen is on it's way!

For those that know me (and my endless amount of Speed Queen videos on YouTube) will know that I love my Speed Queen top loader. It's over 6 years old now, sisters set is 4 years old, and the vacation set is 5 years old. Never had a problem. I needed a new toy though. I loved the redesign on the Speed Queen front loaders, so there is one on it's way to me as we speak! My little Christmas gift to myself. I especially love how Speed Queen kept the rear control model...will fit in nicely with the TL and the existing SQ dryer. Now an agonizing 3 week wait.

So, my question is...

How easy is it to "add on" to the standpipe? Plumping isn't my thing, or at least I've never tried. But I am pretty handy. The new washer would need a standpipe near the metal exhaust vent on the left. Is it a simple "T" connection, or is there something more I need to be aware of? Official call out to the experts...

Congratulations on the new beast.

 

I've enjoyed you videos over the years, make some new ones ASAP!

 

Now, with the plumbing, yes it can be...

 

But If you want a neater look, I would extend the drain pipe (now) under your water pipes, making sure you still have a trap somewhere...

Then have 2 upward drops for your drains.

(I am assuming you will be emptying 2 washers and need 2 pipe heads?)

 

Working w/pvc waste pipe is nothing special...hacksaw cuts fine...polish ends a little with sandpaper...and use a good cleaner on the joints, and then your pvc cement.

 

When you make a joint, twist about 1/4 turn, and stop...allow to set.

For Good flow, I would have a drop (fall) of about 2 inches from left to right.

Thanks LaVida...help me with definitions of "upward drops" and "pipeheads". Sorry, plumping ignorant. I had plan to simply use splitters on the water supplies. I do like 2 loads of laundry a week, so not like it will be used a lot.

Didn't mean to confuse you...

 

The Drain is what I am speaking about.

The one drain shown, I would call 1 drop.

Pipeheads...top of that drain pipe in the picture.

 

I assumed you wanted two stand pipes to drain into...

1 on the left, near the duct, and one about where the one shown is located...??

 

I was simply saying to extend the pipe at the original trap along the wall, and come upwards with a "pipehead", or  another word for standpipe opening...

 

I hope this is better, but I am going to see what I can draw and send somehow...

Post Script: For the water supply I would do as you planned, although I like the all metal spitters, with a plastic ball valve...easy item at Home Depot or Lowes

They spin so smooth and are built nice and solid. I am out at my mothers for the holidays and enjoy putting her new set through their paces.

Weirdly a sock somehow snuck itself into the door boot and was barely visible. Don't know how long it was there but just a heads up on the need to check that area on occasion.

Also the rubber washers for the water lines are not inserted in the hoses when shipped. Get those in ASAP before you forget...like I did!

Thanks Eddy! That looks easy enough to do. I would imagine the 2" drop would still apply until i reached the trap.

Malcolm, I've been jealous of your Imperials for years. Recently watched your videos again when I was trying to decide.

Strictly, do you have pics of your new washers? I've never seen any in "real life".

TL vs FL?

New member here and anxiously looking forward to replacing my Cabrio set with Speed Queen.

Dan - if you have had a chance to use your new FL washer, can you share your impression of the TF vs FL Speed Queens? I have only owned TLs in the past (for whatever reasons) and was focused on getting the AWNE82 but would like to hear real life experience from someone that has used both. Much thanks!
