Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

ooooooooooh

I don't often appreciate the aesthetics of modern machines, but these look very smart indeed...I'll take one in white please!

Now we just need some piano keys and the model line this little fellow endorsed and we'll have something we never thought we'd see on the market again!

Don't you notice that those machines are simply Vestel crap in disguise?!
Give me any machine of any European manufacturer, thanks! (Turkey isn't and never will be Europe, regardless of what economists want!)

So far my Candy never blew apart ;)
I always thought that Brit people always had an inferiority syndrome since the takeover of Hotpoint and Hoover but since we're in an open market everybody is free to buy whatever he wants.

You're skating on thin ice here, Gabriele, I suggest you be quiet.

The 2 main Italian brands are Indesit and Candy. And quite frankly, I wouldn't be paid to own one. This has nothing to do with the Hoover/Hotpoint takeovers and everything to do with the fact that they're unreliable and poor performing. My brother's 18 month old Hotpoint Ultima has been repaired 6 times so far due to various faults and the Indesit he owned before it for less than a year was totally written off.

Beko, a Turkish brand, are proving themselves to be incredibly high performing and reliable and going from strength to strength. I'd sooner own one of those than anything churned out by Indesit or Candy.

what exactly is HydroDrive?.........all these ads talk about how it saves energy or water...but what exactly is hydrodrive, and how does it save energy.....what technology or design makes this different than any other machine?.....just curious

Beko, reliable and going from strength to strength

Before anything, I first have to say that this is not a deffence for any make, country or etc. This is a simple analyse of the statement written above:

"Beko, a Turkish brand, are proving themselves to be incredibly high performing and reliable and going from strength to strength..."

Strength 1: Over 600.000 fridge-freeszers on a potential fire risk
Strength 2: Over 300.000 condenser tumble dryers on a potential fire risk
Strength 3: 3 models of gas cookers (DCG8511WLPG, DCG8511PLW and DCG581LWP) that are letting out Carbon monoxide - lethal poison for people.

2 people already dead (1 from fridge fire+ 1 from Carbon-monoxide cooker), few houses burned down completely.

Knowing the nature of replies on here, I'm repeating again - this comment does not deny anything that happened to Indesit or Candy, or any other brand.

HydroDrive

getting back to the subject...

Yogitunes, as far as I've read, HydroDrive are 2 water jets spraying the laundry from the top of the drum, making machine use less water and therefore energy when washing ;)

Ha ha AquaCycle, worth re posting this as such a laugh, high performance, lets not mention with all those welded drum bearings and electrical problems sending them to the skip early!

@Dejan....thanks for the info.......basically like a few models we have here, and the trend with low water usage growing, a sprinkler of sorts to make sure the load is saturated....

for the models that have them, it is a definate improvement over not having it...

That ice might not be as thin as you think...

Apologies in advance for referring back to those few embittering comments made by some of the folks above but I feel I need to put my 2 pence in here: maybe because I love both countries in question and it hurts me seeing this kind of contrasting thoughts being fuelled in such a way, notwithstanding I see some truths emerging from both parties.

Maybe I would be biased myself in going against one of those two main Italian brands, Indesit in my experience, hence supporting the low reliability theory... however, one needs to take into account the fact that Indesit/Hotpoint is the number one appliance seller in the UK, so you're bound to find a higher number of customer complaints and faults than you normally would with other less sold brands.

As for Hoover(Candy), my 2000, 2003 and 2004 machines had shown me nothing but reliability and performance despite the endless stream of negativity I received from some biased UK friends and acquaintances (no anybody... only those with a passion about appliances like the rest of us here) about this brand who never had any experience with it, but felt the need to stress that 'Hoover' has gone downhill since the 'Candy' takeover and their products are only good for a couple of years (this is been going on for over a decade and I'm still waiting for my appliances to break down). I've had several confrontations with these small circle over the years as I kept growing fonder of my Candy products. I believe this manufacturer mass-produces these machines, so I eliminated the possibility that they produced just a few reliable pieces destined to my address. If some you know different... I'm all ears... well eyes B-)

bertrum...

My best friends Beko will be 5 this year. Used constantly in a house with 2 small children and its never missed a beat. Same goes with my sisters machine, which is just under 3 years old. Or how about my friends Mum's Beko EcoCare, still going strong after 9 years. Again, never missed a beat. My Aunty Lynne has just replaced her 18 month old Candy that was written off with bearing failure with a Beko and has instantly noticed the increase in performance. My brother had an Indesit which was totally written off after just 7 months use and now has a Hotpoint Ultima that's been repaired 6 times in under 2 years.

Sorry, but, explain to me again how Indesit and Candy are better?

Going back to Gabriele's comment for a moment, I really don't agree that there is any bad feelings towards the companies with regards to the takeovers. The problem I have is that Hoover and Hotpoint were always respected, reputable, high performing appliances. Indesit and Candy made machines just did not live up to that. The new Hotpoint range I was actually very impressed with and I liked the first Candy made Hoover's (Performa series). Will the new Hotpoints be more reliable? Lets hope so.

I also don't think it's fair to slag these new Servis machines off as "Vestel crap" without having used one. For all you know, they could be fantastic machines.

I think I owe a response to Chris/Aquacycle as he's the only one that commented on Vestel!
The others took up Beko as an example which has nothing to do with this machine.
Beko, despite being a lower market brand is more "quality" oriented (for whatever that means in the sub 300€ market) and has good performances.
Vestel is the absolute bottom of the line and its products are known to be low
performers with awfully long cycles and impossible to repair once they break up.

As far as Candy and Indesit go, if they really are this bad, they wouldn't have INCREASED in market share since the 90s, don't you think? The good name lives ONLY a few year but think that Hoover is Candy since 1994, almost 20 year and Hotpoint is indesit since the early 2000!
And apart that wasn't Hotpoint a BOL brand ever since its introduction in the UK market? I mean compared to the original Servis, Creda, Hoover, etc.?
It became MOL since the arrive on the market of the various Candy, Indesit, Beko etc.
To me is all up to expectations.
