Hello all, I just returned from the beautiful state of North Caroline to find an early 70's Hoover gem. It's a 1972 Hoover T1003 in avocado green, hasn't been used in years and stored in the house. Judging from the tubs, this machine has seen very little water, and the rubber components are terrific. Best of all, it had all of the ORIGINAL PAPERS with is. I was pretty excited about that more than the washer. Even has the Tide coupon with it. Have a look :) Pardon the messy kitchen/shop, there's 3 twinnies in there right now.

I am going to scan the docs for any Hoover people out there that would like them, e-mail me [email protected]

Thanks

-Tim

WOW!

I remember one time my family visited one of my parents friends (about a hundred years ago...) and they had this same hoover twin tub (in GREEN!). I also remember wheeling it our of their garage to (try to) put it in our car because I wanted to take it home! I was VERY young and I only made it about halfway to our car before my mom stopped me... "But I want it"... I said!

Bad News for the new T1003 :(

Maybe some of the Hoover guys could lend some advice here. The machine works, and doesn't leak. The wash motor is silent, and is a whole different unit than my other T1003, seems faster as well. My problem is the spin mechanism is waaaaay off balance. If you put ANY laundry in there the dishes on the wall start walking. I notice that the basket was off center, so I readjusted the center-mount bearing, but it made little difference. What else is there to adjust? It's a shame if this becomes the reason to make this a parts machine... ANy suggestions?

Have A Hoover Service/Parts Manual

That covers most if not all Hoover washers, will have a look a bit later and see what the trouble shooting pages say.

While a slightly off center spin basket shouldn't be that much of a problem, if the thing is way off kilter, you will have to aline the thing again. This can be quite a bore, but is doable.

Congrats on your new unit! Really ought to give my TT some work to do quite soon as well.

NO WAY!!!

You've got an auto-rinser! I didn't know they made these here! That's a fine dandy machine there. Is your wash belt really elastic or broken. Some of these have a flex belt and some have solid drive belts. Yours should have a very elastic rough feeling belt. Mine is basically a semi-auto rinse version. 0519, hmmm I will be on the lookout. e-mail me [email protected] if you want.

Have A Stash Of MIB Hoover TT Parts

Including some belts, but given how rare things are, am kind of hoarding. *LOL*

Really need to use my Hoover book to catalog the various parts. Think many are for later model twin tubs, and not mine. Know there is a belt or two in the box, but again not sure which model it goes to.

Think there are other members who have belts, and or parts, but cannot speak for them.

I didn't even realize it was something special, aside from the "Deluxe" on the panel. I really wish I could use it, but with the belts the way they are... they are all round, rough, and very stretched out. All are intact, just soo loose they don't transmit motion.

I'm also in need of the "spout" for the rinse... its busted off. Its fill and drain hose are also worn out and cracked, and I am missing the spinner mat.

Tim- did your machine come with the "wood" cover, or was that deluxe only?

Do they still produce parts for these in europe? Any european members out there able to lend a hand? Has anyone used a different belt on one of these?

-E

Do have an extra spin mat in my stash, but sorry, am holding onto it as they are hard to find. You can order one from the UK however. Spin mats are generic there and are sold to fit spin driers and twin tub extractors. An eBay worldwide search using "Hoover Wash" or "Hoover SpinaRinse" should get you where you need to be.

You will have to know what parts you need, as some are model specific. That is the belts for early TTs like mine, may not fit later versions like yours.

Fill and drain hoses may be hard to find on either side of the pond, but again check eBayUK and eBayUSA.

Hoover produced tiwn tubs for much longer after the USA production ceased, up until rather recently,IIRC. Therefore spares are eaiser to find on that side of the pond. Original pumps are hard to find though, and generic versions have not always worked out well.

There are several Yahoo Groups for twin tub owners, you might try posting your needs there as well.

Belts

Hi Eric

Are all the belts stretch ones or are some V section ones?- most are still around :)

Any chance of an interior pic???

The fill/drain hoses are still available over here but for how much longer is anyones guess!

Twinnie Parts

Hey Eric, have got the hoses belts, mat etc just awaiting a white spinner fill spout, the only ones I had spare was orange!!!! which wouldnt go...Lol, am picking up the spout next thursday from a spares supplier I`m visiting, will post them on then !!!

For your type of machine we can still get the hoses & belts, pumps as Laundress says are generic, but have never had any probs myself with them....

The rinse nozzle fill adaptor is the weekest link on these models, as the hose underneath the top deck matures with age, the pipe cracks & water under pressure just seeps out!!!

Awesome! Thanks soo much Mike! I really appreciate the assist. I'm looking forward to playing with the machine when its back in top shape.

Seamus: The belts are round, not v-shaped. Pictures are in the link below, two pages incl. interior shots and undercarriage.

Laundress: Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to keep an eye on ebay.uk. :-)

Eric

Will have a look through my stash of Hoover parts and see what there is to see. Like I said, other members and myself do have stashes of Hoover twin tub parts, but many are perhaps loathe to part with any as they are hard to come by, especially NOS.

Being as that may, hate to see a member going without so will try to make time this weekend to dig out the boxes.

Wood Panel Top

My original Hoover did have the top, but it was in bad shape (warped from water damage). My old Hoover has a V-Belt driven impeller but the new Hoover I just got has the scratchy stretchy round belt you speak of. It has a lot of slack but still works well. Good luck on your parts quest. Lovely machine.

Laundress

I might have someone helping me out with parts from the UK, so hold on to what you have for now. I don't have room to use the machine for a bit anyway, so there is no rush.

Thanks for the info, Tim!
