just purchased this machine, replacing a new bosch purchased a year ago... was not happy with the bosch at all... inside always had a terrible odor, and never really washed well as everyone expressed...
just got installed this new kenmore elite double drawer.. decided on this one.. i am told it is not made by fisher & paykel- reviews i read on f&P were dismal.. this new elite is awrsome.. quiet, very efficient,, and chimes when it done,, really pleased with the purchase.. and very recommended...

Kenmore Dish Drawers...

I am so jealous!! I have a Bosch as well; and as mentioned on a previous thread, am not totally happy with it. I'd love to replace it with those dish drawers.

When I saw these Kenmore dish drawers, I was impressed. Which finish did you get? A chime upon cycle completion? How fun! Show us some pics, if you can!

Congrats -
you're one of the first people I know to own them!!

The Kenmore Draw is not made by F&P!!

Its manufactured by Maytag, as they where going to introduce one before the take over... Whirlpool thought it best if Kenmore got it instead!!

I have sold 2 of them and both people love them! They got the 13343 model which is the better of the two, with the spin action spray bar, anti-bacterial wash, and better sound insulation! I hope that you like it!

Keep us posted on it!

I saw it too, at Sears....it really does look beautiful and has serious "thunk" factor (it sounds solid when you tap the surfaces)....

Is it American-made? I couldn't locate the serial plate, and the sales staff were beginning to watch my contortions a little strangely, LOL!

We have an F & P drawer. We put a single drawer unit in our main island as a "small load" machine. We put our Kitchen Aid full size DW in the pantry for big loads and large meals.

In the 4 years we've had this set-up we've never used the Kitchen Aid. The F&P single drawer and a bit of hand wash has been all we've ever needed even after dinner parties of 8 people.

The only problem we've had with the F&P is with one of the top swing down shelves which suffered a broken hinge clip.

I recommend F&P - although I haven't seen the Kenmorw - without hesitation.

I have the FisherPaykel Dishdrawer and while it does a good job washing it certainly isnt for someone who cooks and entertains. I too looked at the new Kenmore dishdrawers and liked what I saw but the racking is from side to side not back to front like mine is.
Whirlpool outsourced this dishwasher to F&P and they made it in a collaboration between the two. I couldnt imagine Maytag during its death throws even putting the money into a dishdrawer machine even with patents belonging to F&P for this design.
I will have to admit I did get a bit moist when I saw the Kenmores at Sears and picked up the booklet for it. But having said that I wouldnt bother. My F&P dishwasher isnt holding up as well and I have a piece that broke off..the drain filter cover and it is warping. It also stops the wash arm if I dont have the silverware basket on top of it to keep it stable during the wash cycle.
The other thing is with the lid that comes down to lock together to the drawer to keep it water tight. Sometimes it doesnt come down and imagine when it was running with water running down the sides and onto the floor. I had to stop the dishwasher and it reset itself and closed the lid. I am looking forward to this thing dying and I think if I had to do it all over again I would have spent the 1500 bucks on a Miele dishwasher. At least I know I wouldnt have to worry about the machine dying a premature death with a Miele.

nmaineman36, my understanding is that F&P has *nothing* to do with the Kenmore drawers, Maytag did develop it independently, started before the sale to Whirlpool. Other than being drawers, the mechanism is a complete redesign. It does not use F&P's SmartDrive variable-speed reversible motor, the lid mechanism is different, etc.

You can order DishDrawer parts from F&P directly, or from Sears Parts online at http://www3.sears.com. However, something is wonky with Sears database and F&P model numbers sometimes aren't recognized. Keep trying until it works.

I had the same thing happen with my DishDrawer. One of the filter covers cracked and tended to sag down, blocking the wash arm. I took it off in the interim, being as it really isn't needed with the silverware basket in place. When I had opportunity, I called F&P, they sent a replacement at no charge after confirming my serial number ... may have been just a few months past the two-year warranty period.

There is a redesigned lid motor available now, which runs quieter. A pair of lid motors from Sears was about $64 last time I looked.

My DD603 is now past four years old (purchased in summer of 2002 IIRC), and never any trouble with it beyond the cracked filter cover.

I'm a new member, and have owned a F&P double drawer for almost 2 years. I've never had problems and it cleans quite well. I entertain often and one or both drawers run every single day, if not more frequent. I have read reviews on other sites of this brand, and it seems like there are lots of people who have gotten "lemons". Guess I am lucky (at least for now?)

I should clarify that the cracked filter cover in my case was due to an incident of loading the insert from my crock pot such that it was pressing against the cover. I also have a habit of loading large items such as platters and pans supported atop the silverware basket and/or handle.

The major problem with every imported dishwasher is that they don't come with a built in disposer(The LGs are the only ones that do.)Instead, they have a filter that needs to be cleaned every time you unload them.If not, they can get real rancid from the spoiled food particles they hold.as far as Maytag working on a dishwasher project prior to take over is concerned,I can't fathum how Maytag being in the financial dissorder they were due to faulty Neptunes and refrigerators D.O.A.(dead on arival)could have afforded to have any projects of any kind going on other than replacement/service on their failiers.

Re: Kenore elite double drawer D/W

Hi Steve,

I just noticed your thread. I am planning on replacing my
old D/W (Whirpool) with either a Magtag or this type of D/W
I have seen the KitchenAid types at Lowes and love this style.
My question is:
1: Will this new type fit where the old one does. Do I have
remove any counters. It look like the same size as a
standard one.
2. Any special plumbing required.
3. Can you run each unit separate or do they have to run to
gether. Thanks and enjoy you new purchase

John

Very nice!

When my Bosch dies, I will be getting one of those Kenmore dish drawers. That would look fabulous in my kitchen!

No need to clean the filter each time

Hi Laundromat,

My Miele and most Aussie machines only need the filter cleaned every other month, unless you dont scrape at all.

I scrape the plates with a knife into the garbage disposal (Just a quick shake and a swipe) as I load and put them in, and I'm lucky to find anything in the filter when I bother to check every other month. Even such things as potato burnt onto a baking dish, washes off and down the drain.

Stuff like peas, corn, potato, bits of meat etc all get washed down the drain without any issues.

I've never had any smell or any issues at all. Have you used a dishwasher with a manual clean filter, or are you making assumptions.

It might sound like an important feature that is missing, but its one less thing to ever go wrong.

Nathan

I have to agree with Nathan, my nephew and family have the Bosch dishwasher. They do scrape large pieces of food from plates but do not pre-rinse. I have never seen anything in the filter. He has also said that whenever they check it is always clean.
