I was at Sears this past Saturday and saw a new Kenmore top loader. It has a door lock, electronic lights that show what part of the cycle it's in and the tub turned freely but the agitator was locked.I know Whirlpool has a Cabrio with a post agitator and think this is Sears version of it but the W'pool's agitator blades are rubber where the Kenmore has a "Cruel Action" agitator instead.

This is not an "old" style Cabrio. It's the new mechanical design (VMW - Vertical Modular Washer) that uses the WorldWasher-type of drive system, not F&P's SmartDrive motor. I haven't yet seen one except for the listing on Sears' web site which doesn't have an interior pic, but have been advised on good authority that these new agitator machines have the "traditional" DA agitator, not the Cabrio-style with flexible rubber fins.

If it still has no override for the automatic temperature control (like the old Cabrio), good luck getting hot water out of it. We had ours a week before returning it. Some loads came out dirtier than when they went in, or at least they looked that way.

control panel reminds me of older GE models with those little led cycle indicator lights and the rubber push to start button. I also noticed that the cabinet sides look like those used in WP's front load machines what's up with that?
