New machine not without pain! lol.

Hey Guys,

Well i've aqquired a fully working hotpoint aqualtis at an absolute steal of £21!!! They reckoned it wasn't completing some cycles.

Here's where the drama began. I collected the machine from this burley biker polish guy with a ponytail. He said he'd help me out the door with it which had a large step. Well the clumby off was pulling quicker than i could move i lost my footing on the step and fel out the door and did my best to catch the falling machine doing that I smashed my knee and elbow on the floor and really screwed myself up.

The machine was ok thankfully the second drama was when we got the machine back to Austin's house for testing and the machine slipped and landed on my foot!!! Ouch! lol.

Finally we got the machine up the 3 flights of stairs in my building sadly no lift lol.

Whether the slight knock or couple of days to stand unplugged did it a favor it has worked flawlessly and I love it!

Here's a pic of it in place in my kitchen It was worth the injurys.

Now see if you can get someone to relieve you of your old Zanussi washer/dryer that weighs an absolute tonne...

If your zanny weighs a lot, to move it I would dismantel it and put it back together when in place. anyway, Congrats on the aqualtis.

& it's still got the sticker on the door handle too. Bloody awful to get it off. It leaves the backing adhesive on. They haven't got them on the aqualtis models now. Thank god.

Hey Mike!

I'm bruised and battered but no perminant damage! lol.

I am well impressed with it! I can't believe how high the rinse level was on a load of towels I did it was about 4inches up the door and the drum is tilted so that's a fair whack of water! It's lovely and quiet and very stable. Having felt the weight of it on top of me I can confirm this lol.

Hey Optima: indeed it has the sticker, I won't be taking it off I like to keep it original!

Aquarius8000: Sadly I don't have the storage to keep it, So I am gonna contact the british heart foundation and see if they will collect it.

£21 for a Hotpoint Aqualtis is an absolute steal. Perhaps the seller fancied the steam version and made up an excuse to upgrade it.

Shame about the Zanussi washer dryer though, it'll spend its days in the BHF shop reconditioned and priced for more than what you got the new Aqualtis for.

I think you'll live to regret getting rid of that. Whenever other machines have gone faulty you've always had one machine you could rely on, the WDT.

Putting all your faith in new machines is a risky deal i reckon!

Its still in my living room at present! The problem is I do not have the space. I may sweet talk my folks and also a friend whom is on this site has offered to store it for me too. So we shall see.

Thus far I cannot fault the aqualtis apart from it has the balancing issues with being one of the first models. While my Indesit has not.

I should explain. The indesit was awesome. But taking it would have left my folks without a machine so I chose to use the zanussi to tide me over until something cropped up and here we are!

I love the capacity. The main wash tumbles are long with short pauses! The rinses are fantastic and use loads of water! The downfall is it is only 1200rpm. However the larger surface means it is still quite good. I had heard that changing the door would upgrade the spin with it being a variable inverter motor, we did this with a spare 1400rpm door which Austin had but it didn't do anything the led's worked but the time remaining didn't which lead me to figure it would need pairing up with an engineers laptop which I may consider in the future and upgrade it to 1600rpm.

Definately sweet talk someone into looking after the WDT for you Darren. If i had my own place i'd do it for you, but at the moment my place is rented out as it's what i bought when i lived in Manchester & i'm having a wicked time (not) living at home - i'm sure you get my drift ;-)

Where's the newer WDT(1085) and Bosch WFF2000 living at present? With the Ex?

Im sure 1200rpm isn't too bad? Maybe just abit annoying coz of having to rely on a clothes horse in the flat.

At least if Hotpoint used the same bearings throughout the range (probably not) then on 1200rpm machines they should in theory last longer - bearings seem Hotpoints biggest killer! Though they may ofcourse upgrade the bearings with the faster spin in which case i suppose it's risky updating the electronics to make it spin faster incase the bearings go pear-shaped :-/

I do like the look of the Aqualtis it has to be said, even though it pains me to say it. Do a video of the balancing trash quick, to put me off again! ;-)

I've just this second fetched my old Hotpoint CTD80p dryer off the ex where the bosch and older zanussi dryer still are, it keeps cutting out so i need to figure out why so i'm taking it to see Dr Austin (ozzie908) now to see if we can sort her out.

Oops sorry Liam i'm obviously not awake yet. Yea the 1200 is actually quite good and I will be happy to put up with it as I did with the zanussi essential it spins better than that due to the larger drum surface area and now i've got my dryer again once it's working it won't be a problem. I will still use the airer's i'll just use it to finish things off and for towels.

I'm not sure if the bearings are any different. I doubt they are in zanussi's at present. I don' like there very basic new range.

Success!

Well this morning I asked for my old Hotpoint CTD00P dryer back off my ex which I thought wasn't working, but as I thought the circuitry in the garage at my old house couldn't handle the power being drawn (as it was a bodge job to get a light in there by prev owner).

Austin and I stripped it down to its bare essentials and and cleaned it out and wiped it down and now it's good as new. We tried several angles and stacked the fridge on top but in the end we decided to put it above the washer, i've lost half my draining board but A) It will make me dry things up quicker and B) I can always put a towel on top of the fridge and drain them on there.

So below is the laundry quarters of my cosey kitchen!!
