Hi, I found this site a few months ago, been reading and looking at all your beautiful treasures, and just felt so great finding a community that understands me and my love of old appliances of any brand or type. I feel like I know several of you already, at least the ones that post often or were in the convention pictures. In honor of that, I just returned home with a new toy, a 50's, or early 60's GE 40" electric range, saved thru Freecycle! It was going to the dump tomorrow. It has a broken clockworks, needs one right rear burner and the oven element they said, but were using it up until this year. Since I work for GE, I am hoping I can find the parts, or I am am sure people on here know where I can look for them. I hope some of us Maryland people can get together too.
My thanks to Robert and everyone who makes this site possible, and I hope I can help out my fellow appliance fans where I can.

Hello new member

Hi Scott,
I'm new here myself but you won't find a more friendly website about appliances on the internet!

I like all appliances but my greatest interest is in vintage vacuums and they let me post here about them complete with pictures.

Welcome and jump on in!

Charlie

Hi Scott

Good work saving that stove. You must post pictures of it. There has been some active conversations on electric ranges lately, but there is no such thing as too many pictures!

Welcome!

Welcome Scott! If you post the model number of the range, we can help you determine the age and possibly a source for parts. There are some members in the Beltsville area that you should meet as well, they have over 200 appliances between them and have been servicing and collecting for many years.

Thanks for posting! Greg

Wow

Thank you one and all! I do need to take some pictures of my Miniwasher and dryer, and the stove. I spent about 45 minutes last night just cleaning the crud out from between the buttons and the stainless steel with fantastic. Once cleaned up I will get some pictures to share. I need to figure out how to best clean the button switch portion, so they operate like they should, I was thinking electric contact cleaner.
The paper on the back says model 1J361 and 1J362.
I just love this group!

Scott

Welcome from Pennsylvania

Hello Scott. As a fellow stove fanatic we share something in common. Also, we like GE products. I own a couple of 50's Hotpoint appliance all in glorious 50's pink. As for parts, GE is not hard to find as far as burners go. For knobs and timers, the local recycle dump is handy, so is fleabay. You can also go on monitortop.com if you have a real hard find on your hands. Also, don't be too proud as to dig in someone's garbage as you can certainly find some magnificent treasures this way. I found my matching '57 Hotpoint wall oven and cooktop this way. Feel free to ask lots of questions and welcome aboard !
