Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Thank you^^

By the way: Some months ago, Germany got its first eco-friendly liquid detergent (everyone knows that powder is way more eco-friendly). It is another Henkel-brand. The red one is for colored laundry and the blue one for whites:

The Softener update

Here's what's out at work:
The entire Downy Simple Pleasures line got a overhaul, with Waterlily (blue), Lavender (purple), Almond (beige), Spice (red) and Orchid (black) as the main fragrances. The Orchid fragrance also comes in sheets. The Suavitel Aromatherapy line has been overhauled, more sizes of Snuggle (new 96 oz.), and a Exhilarations Sweet Blossom/Pomegranate fragrance was introduced.

In the stain remover aisle, Tide Stain Release liquid (2 sizes), powder and pacs (10 and 18 ct.) are out too.

Clorox Greenworks Detergent just came out at Safeway

I tried the new Tide Stain Release...absolutely love it. I bought the powder and I am impressed. It ramps up the power of Tide and it took out every stain I had without pretreating. To me performance like that is worth the money.

Well, here in Germany the stain stuff from Ariel is not a highlight. Don't know why but it is just performing bad. Will stick to SIL.

The Softeners: What to pick and what not to pick

Well, I got to smell all the new scents, and here's my results.
Snuggle Sweet Blossom and Pomegranate - Okay scent.
Downy Simple Pleasures Almond Cream Bliss was great. Spice Blossom Dare and Orchid Allure were awful.
Suavitel Aromatherapy - Stay away. Smells awful.

It seems that P&G are using the same delivery system as their dishwasher tablets i.e. liquid and gel/powder in a little soluble pouch.

Downy Simple Pleasures

The fragrances are actually former SP, SP Radiance Collection and one (Almond) was a regular Downy fragrance:

Waterlily Radiance - Waterlily and Jasmine
Almond Cream Bliss - Cashmere & Silk Fresh
Lavender Serenity - Lavender & Vanilla
Orchid Allure - Black Diamond
Spice Blossom Dare - Amethyst Mist

New Downy and Tide Stain Release Pacs

I bought a bottle of the new Almond Cream Bliss and another bag of Tide Stain Release Action Pacs at work, as I was almost out. The Almond Cream Bliss scent isn't overpowering and makes the bedspread smell delightful. The Stain Release pacs work wonders.

Snuggle

We now have Snuggle Blue Iris & Bamboo Silk. Smells nice. Also there's a Snuggle Free & Clear. Sun's expanding Snuggle...

I plan to find out what the new Suavitel Aromatherapy scents are tomorrow.

Clorox Greenworks Detergent and Stain Removers came out at Albertsons this past week.

Greenworks

OK, so I got a $2 coupon for the Greenworks detergent and I figured I would give it a whirl and see if it did a better on body-odor items since it contained enzymes and came in a lavender scent.

It was, in a word, repellent.

It had an ~extremely~ strong odor of what I suspect would be a chemist's idea of what lavender should smell like in spite of having "essential oils" in it. It didn't really do that great of a job cleaning out general dirt, and the one body-odor item still smelled like BO dipped in artificial lavender syrup after I was done washing it.

I ended up re-washing that whole load just to get the smell out, and it still persisted on the clothes, in the washer and somewhat in the dryer after that. Needless to say, I took it straight back to Publix for a refund after a single load. I will use the entry form I found on the Greenworks display to enter for a free Whirlpool W/D set, but I won't ever buy this stuff again.

My $0.04...

New products

Well, the flood of products won't stop here in good old Germany.
Lenor softener had a complete makeover. Three fragrances were kicked out, two new were introduced.

The first ist called Lenor "Maya" from the mystery-series

This is the complete Vernel range including the new Vernel crystals. The shape of the bottles is different than before.

Marketing?

Honestly, I'll never understand marketing types.

So... what does the Maya actually smell like? The green and earthy jungle scents of a 1000 year old abandoned step pyramid? Or is there a better description of the scent on the bottle?

New Lenor

We have those 2 new Lenors in the UK also - the "Maya" one is called "Gold Orchid" and "Fashion Fuchsia" is called "Struck By Fuchsia" over here. :)

I must admit, that I hate all the fragrances of the Lenor mystery and energy range. I think that the new ones will not be an exception...we'll see (or better: smell)
