New Range Thread!

I had started a range thread over a year ago and thought I would start another one. I hope that people would add to it. I personally have no prefrence over gas or electric. I just see the ranges made today and not to say weather or not they are all bad but I feel we didnt realize how good we had it with more flexability back in the day.
Lets start with what I think is a gibson!

Regarding ranges, I liked electric ones mostly because they are a lot more precise in transferring heat from the burner to the cookware.Gas ranges have flames that can waste fuel and not be as precise as the electric ones. A lot of owners/users of the electric ranges have no clue as to how to first turn them on to get hot,then set the level of heat you need. Then,once the food is either boiling or simmering, you can "tune in" on the right level of heat and it will stay there as long as you want without burning or scorching.I've never been able to do that with any gas range. The baking in electric ovens is also more precise because they need nothing other than a vent to let the heat escape.Gas ovens need lots of breathing and have openings every where.Again,causing gas to escape and waste fuel.They look great though and when they were in their prime,the models you have shown are absolutely fabulous!!!

Ranges!

I grew up with gas and most people I know had gas stoves. Mostly they spoke about how they would never have electric. After using electric ranges I liked them. The 1st electric experience of my own was a late 60's hotpoint cooktop and wall oven.
The wall oven was the best I ever used. The cooktop was ok but I replaced it with a Summit 24 inch cooktop that I liked a lot. I liked the fact that the coils unplugged and the top lifted up to clean and it had more power than the hotpoint.
When I moved I had to have gas (a coop rule) The 1st few years I had a 1950' 20 inch wincroft in my coop than when I redone the kitchen 10 years ago I bought a sears with 2 power burners. It cooks as well as the electric coil in my openion but I would take a electric oven over a gas oven any day! Back in the 70's and early 80's my Aunt had a complete GM Frigidaire home but she had a gas hardwick stove. I knew a few people that had complete Frigidaire homes with the exception of various stoves gas! More pictures and stories welcome!

Monarch wood, gas, electric, wood/gas, wood/electric stoves were built in Bever Dam, WI., not Beaver Bay.  My maternal grandmother, and mom had 30" Monarch gas ranges, and one of my dad's paternal aunt's had a 40" electric range and they were all built very solidly.  Grandma used the heat from the pilot light to raise her homemade bread faster, and it was always as light as a feather.  I miss mom's Monarch, she now has a POS GE gas range.
 
Red range

That's a Monarch.  If a range could ever be called sexy, that one fits the description!  I'd take that over a red sports car any day.
 
Beaver DAM is in WI. Beaver Bay is in MN. Duh!

Edited that little brain lapse.  It's been so hot here I have had escaping to the north shore of Lake Superior on my mind, lol.
