New Speed Queen FL washer

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I got the SQ washer from my good friend Bob Salem in Cleveland, Ohio. He is now a SQ dealer and gave me a deal I couldn't resist.

The counter weight is cast iorn and mounted below the tubs.

All the water from the dispenser enters the rear of the tub, but there is a nozzle at the top of the door boot that sprays the clothes when filling and for the first spray rinse.

Water tempature has no thermal sensor, except for the boosted hot wash that heats to 140F.

The water level in the video is the factory setting, a little more water then the Duet washer.

I think the poor cleaning report is due to the short wash time, only 9 minutes. Total cycle time is about 30 minutes. They used the same cycle times as the commercial model. I bet they will change the cycle times soon. I have had no problems getting things clean. For very dirty loads I use the boosted hot setting, this extends the wash, due to heating time, about 10 minutes.

Overall I like the construction of the washer. The SS tubs are quite heavy compaired to the Duet or LG I have. It should be very easy to service from the front. The tub bearings can be replaced without taking the tubs apart due to the removeable tripod on the rear of the outer tub.

Speaking of Water Level

Have you looked inside the console at the controls? Is it a manual water level switch?

Looks GREAT and solid as a tank! How much do these go for?

Like the above poster I'm also curious if the factory water level setting can be adjusted.

Hi Jeff

I'd understand if you don't want to meddle with your new machine, but I'd love to know what would happen if you disconnect the heating element, then set it for a boosted wash - do you get an extra 10 minutes washing and then the machine finishes the cycle, or does it detect that the heater isn't working and shut down or go into some sort of error mode? I'd love one of these machines and I'd like the longer wash but I don't want a heater.

Thanks

chris.

Extraction?

How does the extraction of the Speed Queen compare to the extraction of the Whirlpool Duet and LG Tromm?

Detergent Compartment?

Does the detergent drawer remove for cleaning? The manual indicates that the operator should simply pour hot water through it for cleanup. Since this is foremost a commercial machine, there probably isn't an easy way to remive the drawer, huh?

Although, you did remove it for one of the photos above.
