Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Hi all just want to say, at the beauty shop i work at the owner baught a new Speed Queen washer, and i watched it do a load of towels, and it has the slower stroke agitation like my whirlpool Imperial 70 does, I really think it is nice to see a modern washer that does not wash with that fast action agitation like the ones on the market today.
If you ask me they should all go back to the tried and true method of washing.

Speed Queen Interior?

Does anyone have any pix of the Speed Queen interior? The commercial machines have a tub ring that disperses the fill up to 360 degrees around the basket. Do they residential machines still have this? Or do they use the fan-fill like the Amana pictured above?

Nice machines!!

Wow, I like that 90s sleek control panel(as apposed to millenium grunge). and no problems in 7 years. The electronic controls seems very user friendly.

But it probly didn't come in harvest gold, avacodo, or toast. oh shuckerrs.

Thanks for the pix.

MRB:

SQ recently added a waterfall fill along with the fill-around ring. Watching it in action, it is completely unimpressive. Water kinda dribbles from around the ring, with it just dripping at the point furthest from the waterfall part. The waterfall is sloppy also, just running over the tub ring.

OY...the circle-fill of the early-90's SQ coin-ops is much more entertaining! Fills the tub quite fast as well from what I've seen.

If you are in the market for a NEW machine to keep vintage ones company-SQ would be the way to go!!Wonder when the dealers around me will carry them-so it won't have to be delivored all the way from Charlette!!Like the pictures of one-and its agitator that resembles a WP Surgilator.I would prefer the regular electro-mechanical controls. The elctronic ones are cool though.

Older Amana Electronic Control Machine

In addition to the photos I posted before. I have my first newly purchased washer which is an Amana much like the ones I posted pics of. These machines have a slightly smaller (shorter) tub and a smaller opening and lid. They have the cirle fill tub. The newer machine pictured above has a fluid filled ring around the top of the tub that really helps keep loads balanced but has a much more common way of filling.
The older machine has a black control panel that is lighted. I also have the matching dryers for both machines with the stainless tubs. Once I finish my laundry room, I can't wait to have all 4 machines lined up together all lit up. If anyone wants to see pics of the older machine let me know. I think I bought the first Amana in 1992.

Saw the SQ Today!

Just stopped into the high-end appliance dealership today and saw the Speed Queen. Boy that looks like a solid machine. Top-load and MOL. Listed price $549. Looks well worth it.

SQ in AU

Hi Guys,

You can buy SQ machines in AU, you just need to have an ABN (Australia Business Number) or know somebody who can hook you up with one :)

These machines have always been available in Australia, for as long as the Kleenmaid machines have been SQ based. (Kleenmaid prior to 1988 was based on a Brazilian made BD Whirlpool)

Regards

Nathan
