i was at walmart today and noticed new tide powder, they had an older box of tide powder 80 loads, the new box was also 80 loads and was much smaller and with the new logo, has anyone used it yet? sometimes i am skeptical about all these companies all going "ultra concentrated" wisk and all made their formula "concentrated" and their liquid became thicker, tide claims their new liquid is 3x concentrate... but it seems no thicker than the previous generations...it seems like they r just claiming it is concentrated but just putting less liquid in the container.

Hmmmm...

Any chance you can go back to Wal mart and sneak a digital camera in and take a few pics of the new product? I'm anxious to see what it looks like. Nothing like that down here yet...MI just might be a test market.

I don't think that something has to be thicker to be more concentrated. In fact, I bet liquid detergent has thickeners in it which end up making it messier. One of the reasons why I was a liquid Tide devotee for so long is that their jug and cap design were so much neater. Now, their patent must be out and most of the caps are like that.

If One Notices

Thicker gel and liquid detergents in the UK and Europe mostly all come with dosing balls. Thicker laundry products may have a very hard time being flushed down the detergent dispenser drawers, especially if the water is cold. Should one have low water pressure, then all bets are off.

However as pressure is on to make use with less, one can see how and why liquid detergent products in the USA may start going thicker. After all excess water is excess water.

Oh....

Then we do have that here in Springfield, although I really don't notice a big difference in the logo. I thought it was a MAJOR change (like the new Cheer logo).

I wonder when the new 3X will be hitting the shelves here? When it does, I'll let you all know. :)

The old Tide...

...is Canadian Tide. Back in Canada, detergents until recently were sold in Original and Ultra formulas. P&G and Sun Products recently converted their powders to ultra or "compact" formulas. Our Tide, though, remains the Ultra 2 formula.
