New To Site, Looking for info.

Hi, I am a new member to this site. I have followed it for some time, and think it is great! I loved vintage appliances for as long as I can remember. I have a Maytag Wringer washer, that I use on a regular basis. We just purchased a GE Filter Flo washer. I have heard great things about these and that they are "workhorses" We have 2 children, so we do alot of laundry. We have a front load washer/dryer set, but I despise it. Anywho...don't mean to ramble, but I am looking for the Mini-basket that goes into our new filter flo. Does anyone know the whereabouts as to find one? If anyone knew, I know this will be the place! THANKS!

Congrats on your GE Filter Flo purchase!    Yes they are good machines.   Can you post any photos of the GE?   There were a number of different tub sizes/agitator sizes and shapes and because of that, a few different mini-baskets.   If you can a photo showing the top/control panel and another of the inside (lid open), this will help determine which mini basket you will need.

 

There "may" be someone here with a mini basket they may be willing to sell.   There is also Modern Parts in Parma Ohio OR there is always eBay.

Thanks Kevin!! I will get some pics posted on here maybe Thurs. (that is when they are delivering it) I paid $50.00 for it, so I think I received a good deal. Maybe someone can tell me when they see the photo about what year it is. I was told it was 79/80...so we will see how close they were. I do know it has two toggle switches on the left of the machine, and a knob in the middle, then the main control cycle knob on the right, and says "heavy duty"

I'm far from an expert on GE's but our description of the "toggle switches on the left" sounds like your year guess could be close.   I have one from the mid 80's(?) that is similar.  

 

Does this washer specifically have a "Mini-Wash" setting on the water level switch?

Does the agitator have straight vanes, or curved? I have several baskets, need to know which one you need.

Once we know if it has minii-wash on the waer level knob, it sounds like it's a std. capacity machine rather than an ex-large capacity.  My best friend from college, he & his wife had a GE that sounded similar.  One toggle switch was h/c, w/c, and c/c or h/w, w/c, and c/c temp combinations and the other was speeds for n/n, n/s, and s/s.  Water level knob could be variable with mini-wash settinbg or 3 set water level settings plus mini-wash.  I've seen all these combinations.  cycle knob had regular (with soak) at the rinse part and perm/press poly knits as the other cycle.

Ok..I found a pic on the web of what the control panel looks like. Mine looks exactly like this one, or at least after it is cleaned up..lol It does have the curved style agitator. Excited to have this delivered Thurs!!!

That's the exact washer I had in my head when I was making the description.  So it has the straight-vane activator and is the standard capacity.

Thanks mixfinder! It does come with the filter pan, but could use a new one, and could also use the fab. softner dispenser!

This will be a better machine than most HE FL's.  The Filter-Flo with Mini-Basket cleans clothes well.  I always loved the powerful and splashy agitation as well as the mini basket for gentle items.  As far as being a workhorse these are the best GE ever built.  However it will not match any Alliance built Speed Queen,  direct drive Whirlpool/Kenmore or vintage Maytag.

Thanks everyone! I have been trying to find a Lady Kenmore, but those are scarce around these parts..lol I came across this filter flo, and had to have it. I live in a smaller town, so know the used appliance store dealer, and because it was older, he made me a deal I couldn't refuse!

It's delivered!

I am so excited! My filter flo was delivered. It was supposed to be delivered yesterday, but they replaced the agitator for me. That is the good thing in a small town.. our used appliance store here, makes sure they are tip to before you take them home! It is an extra-large capacity, with the spiral agitator. So if anyone has a mini-basket they would be willing to part with, let me know!! It would go to a great home!!!!
