Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

yay! Oh you just gots to love that retro door handle! So when does Dovers laundry man collect customer orders? With that capacity you could be raking it in washing the local Lords and Ladies fine undergarments lol.

Imagine that control panel on a 6kg machine and that was my old, now my ex's ZWF1440 great machine. Washed so well on every cycle. I just love the dial, so easy to figure out. Not my favourite machine but easily 2nd best i have owned.

Must... get... obsessive... about Electrolux Group... produc

Lemee at it! I want one! I do have a long-term fondness for Zanussi-Electrolux machines.

[Jon holds Carl back, saying, “Carl, your Miele will do fine!” “But I’ve always wanted an Electrolux machine… I was looking at Zanussi-Electrolux machines before getting the Miele… Did I do the right thing?!” *sobs*…

Jon gives Carl a slap round the face, whilst Nick gives Carl an Ecover tablet to sniff, with its lavender fragrance, in an attempt to calm him down. Seeing this does not work, Jon puts an Ariel Biological tablet under Carl’s nose, which promptly makes Carl go unconscious. Darren places a Hoover New Wave brochure in front of Carl. Carl wakes up, sees the New Wave brochure and thinks he’s finally got a New Wave.

However, Carl realises it’s not real and then promptly tears the brochure up, leaving Darren to charge at Carl with a drain hose, which then leads to Nick and Jon having to hold Darren back whilst Seamusuk sits utterly bemused, thinking, “What on Earth is Carl going on about?!”.]

“8kg”?! *sniff*

LOL!!

Hey all

Glad you all like :)

I wont tell ya exactly what its costing me but suffice to say its under £300 :)- at one stage the retail price was bout £530!!.

Only slight quibble I have is the lack of a 50 deg cotton option- as Jon said towels etc will just have to be 60!.- it does have an option for 4.5kg cotton @ 60 with A wash in 45 mins tho-sounds interesting,im guessing it has an extra intensive action??.

Steve- as Louis says it is indeed standard 24"/60cm width-also its only 60cm deep as well, this point is essential for where it lives;).

I can see I may have to figure how to post videos of this lol!!

Seamus

Lastly....

Carl- The Miele was an excellent choice so dont worry lol :)- its far more likely to be around in 2026 than this is!. With regard to looks tho I think the Electrolux wipes the floor with it

(Ducks and runs VERY VERY quickly from Jon!!!!)

You had me in stitches as well- I wont ask if you were "under the infulence" of anything when you came up with that pmpl!

50*c

Well the ZWF1440 still had 50*c one thing I was very grateful for.

Mums LG is a pain for not having one of my favourite temps.

Use it for light t-shirts, light cottons, synthetics.
I dont know what progs we all tend to use but i find washing t-shirts on anything other than 50 and 40 synthetics ruins them.

I only use the 40*c Cottons for Jeans, socks and underwear etc etc.

The dot in the door

Great looking machine, thanks for sharing it with us.

Is that a dot I can see in the middle of the glass door? Loads of machines used to have that in the 70s. The Hotpoint liberators had them and Electra's etc.. I quite like the retro touch.

hehe :-)

Don’t worry, Seamus – I wasn’t under the influence of anything. :-)

I can’t drink, I certainly don’t take drugs and I am not mad. :-)

50 cycles

Having not ahd a 50 programme on my last machines it is not something that I consider useful. I wash cotton tea shirts or some trousers on a 60degree cycle without a problem. I tend to do jeans on an easy care cycle but everything else always cottons programmes for good long washes.

oops

Teribly sorry meant to say cool machine hope you ahve fun wiht it as I do love the handle

Seamus... already told ya this on MSN but thought I'd say again that is a cool machine - and everyone has gotta love that door handle. Darren and I often wonder whether other Zanussi machines could be "pimped" with that door :-).

Shame about the 50*C temp, have to say I missed that an awful lot with the Bosch but I'm sure you'll get by, and even some Miele's don't have that anymore so I guess that's just a way how washers are going everybody, what with most people washing everything on 40 or god forbid 30*C :-).

Good luck and congratulations!

Jon

Lovely machine Seamus

A good honest machine for the money...

Great looks, great capacity - for the price you paid I really don't think you could have done better.

My Zanussi must average two loads a day and it's run faultlessly for nearly three years - it's done `Sophie pregnant' til `Luke now a toddler'. No sign of trouble yet. I know three years ain't much service, traditionally, but actually, surfing the e-bay pages and seeing so many Indeshits and Servis etc which look brand new with their lovely silver finishes etc but say `PCB gone, starting bid £1' or `bearing gone, no reserve, good for someone in the trade....' I'm glad to have had three years from what I'm pretty sure was a sub £300 machine.

Good luck with it. Hint.... `Quick' cycle often gives nice spalshier rinses and double it up with `super rinse' gives an extra one. At least it does on my old thing...

Nick

PS Yep - lovin' the door handle too

hahaha!

lets just all buy the door handle as a spare part and stick it with loctite on our machines

notices the Hottie trembling in the corner at the very thought

Got to agree with that. :-)

As I keep saying, my No. 2 choice is Zanussi-Electrolux. I really only got the Miele Premier 520 because (a) it was quite cheap in our local dealer that is very helpful and (b) I thought it might be worth the extra money.

We tell relatives to get Zanussi-Electrolux, Bosch or Whirlpool and to ignore the Indes*its! (Good name, Nick, although engineers tell me that is what they are called in the trade anyway! LOL)

Like the designs of Zanussi-Electrolux – just about right to me. My sister, when she gets her own place, will most likely be getting them. :-) (I’m the ‘boss’ according to family when it comes to anything electrical, but I don’t lecture! LOL)

The dot etc......

Hey Rob :-)

Its actually some sort of random reflection lol!!!!

Thanks for all the favourable comments guys I think it was the best choice I could have made for the money ;)

Other than the lack of a 50 prog there is one other thing that will annoy the crap out of me at 1st tho!- the ZWF1217w has the instant release type door and this has the 2-3 min delay :(. Still at least it has the cool red door locked warning light above the handle :)
