My video finally finished its processing at YouTube.

A couple of notes:

1) You'll notice I added more water after agitation began. My jerry-rigged rubber band method isn't always exactly accurate. I wanted the water to come up to the balancing ring. I could have added another towel or something. It's no longer a true BobLoad® at that water level.

2) This ain't no Kenmore. It takes awhile for a couple of resistant items to get pulled under. Once everything has been submerged, rollover s-l-o-w-l-y begins. It doesn't help that the counter-clockwise spinning load 'unwinds' the auger on every backstroke. The back (counter-clockwise) stroke is the longer stroke. The clockwise stroke (the one that moves the auger to pull clothes down) is very short.

3) I threw all caution to the wind and let the spray rinse happen. No light bulbs burst, although the camera lens got wet as it begins to fill for the rinse cycle, near the end of the video. The spray rinse is for Toggle and Mickeyd!! You can't really tell in the video, but it's like a monsoon when that spray starts. Everything within a few feet of the washer was drenched, including the camera.

Enjoy.

Great video Eugene. I can't believe what a difference in turnover adding a little water makes. I sort of like the indexing tub in this washer, it sure does add drama to the cycle. What is the spin speed in this machine, it's hard to tell in a YouTube video?

I like how you explained everything, you can see what a pain it is to get the lighting right for these washer videos, especially with dark clothes.

I like these machienes quite well, but the two i have had a chance to play with did not fill up with enough water in my book..

Robert-- I don't know what the spin speed is on this machine. From memory and eyeballing, it seems about the same speed as the 1960 Kenmore I grew up with. I'd guess it's in the low 500's.

Exploder-- Frigidaire lowered the maximum water level on this washer to meet energy/water usage requirements. I use a thick rubber band attached to a picture hanging hook to force the water level knob to hold itself in the 'reset' position so it fills to the top of the tub. A few years ago, this washer filled to the top row of holes. Today, it only fills to the third row down. It really tromps on the capacity of the washer. A stupid move on Frigidaire's part.

The one did not have the reset thing and the girl who owned it over loaded it any way...The other had the reset switch but it wouldn't go past the 4th row of holes...
Wonder why?

Huh! If it had a reset position on the water level control, it should continue filling as long as you manually hold the knob all the way to the right. In fact, if you hold it there, it will fill and overflow onto the floor. I know this from experience, LOL!

I though that was odd.. I don't think her parents machiene worked right in the first place... It had a very sluggish timer, and it always had very sopping wet cloths... I drove by there house today and it was out front, sans the control panel and motor... There was a box for an Admiral from home depot there as well..

There's just something irresistible about a Frigidaire,

You had that thing loaded to the max. WET and drained, the clothes still came up to the erstwhile TOP OF THE TUB !!!, yet the machine whirled them around, up and down in a perfect turnover pattern. Thanks for the spray; the wide fill flume made it cool. Methinks thou hast acute aquaphobia.

I often wondered how the new Frigi's worked. Frigidaire never disappoints and always has a surprize. Loved your little dancing stickmen graphics.

Buds,

Mikey

Hi Mikey-- No aquaphobia here, just some bursting light bulb phobia, LOL. I had several lamps with exposed bulbs very close to the washer to get it lit properly. As I mentioned earlier, the amount of water shooting out of the machine is much greater than it appears in the video. I had to wipe down the wall, the camera, the lamps and the TV tray the tripod was standing on. None of that equipment was visible in the vid, so you'd never know it was there; but I almost couldn't get to the washer to start it once all that stuff was in place!

I also like the rhythmic groaning the machine makes during agitation---almost sounds like someone sawing wood with an old blade saw.

I appreciate how smart you are and how keen your powers of o

and I also love splashing water very very much. So, would you kindly explain how and why the lovely, sturdy Frigidaire exudes so much flying water. Perplexed. Really intrigued. Full of wonderment. Spare nothing. Thank you, Fridgu.

I have absolutely NO idea why the spray rinse during the spin splashes so much. It must be the angle at which the water hits the clothing as the tub is spinning. I was used to having the lid open on the Kenmore, Whirlpool and KitchenAid toploaders I've had during spins----hardly any wetness involved. Even the 'circle-spray' in my '86 Frigidaire (when they still made the Fraudgidaire look a bit like the 1-18's)---and that feature was the only good thing about THAT machine--- didn't throw as much water during the spin sprays.

I did notice it's not as 'sprayful' when the tub has no clothing in it, so it must have to do with the clothes.

And who the heck is watching all these washer vids? I'm well over 100 hits and the thing's only been on YouTube for a day and a half!

Chad-- And a mere 12 hours later, it's over 200 hits. I'm just surprised a washer video gets watched that often. The first video I posted of the TL Frigidaire is over 1,600, now. Either the gang at AW does a lot of repeat viewings or there are more washer enthusiasts out there than we realize.

Closeted Washeriods

I think both... Although, at my office my boss was playing around on my lapton and was watching roberts video witht the troggs (bt i saved the link) and then watched yours..She was quite baffled as to how a washer worked... I was asked a number of questions as well....
