Mikes right. Don't discount the gorenje's! I Really wanted to get one but it was a little out of my price range. Don't worry about the low water levels, theres an override option for those of us who want proper rinsing results
They have some character and good options!
One of my friends on youtube Maturasigma has some good videos of his gorenje, one doing a high level rinse too!

Yes ive seen them they are great, thats good that you can do high water levels, but the LG did beat it on the gadgetshow and the Lg was found cheaper and quicker to wash with better results.

My parents have one, 1400 rpm spin, three years old this spring.
A reasonable machine, but:
requires a concrete or stone floor to spin with least trouble, else it bounces about somewhat hellishly;
noisy water intake, motor noise noticable;
spin sequence doesn't always remove the water effectively - even on a level concrete floor.

Hey well, guess what........
We have finally came to a decision that my family friend wants a hoover again due to her past experience with them. So then she looked at a nextra and i said no so she goes its between the 8kg or 9kg. She goes i dont mind, i said get a 9kg and she said 1200 or 1400 or 1600. We ended up choosing 1400 as its cose o the old 1300 but better. She doesn't like digital washers and complicated washers so she'll always use the cottons 40oc and 60oc program unless her daughters or i go there when woolens or anything else needs washing. On the old machine she used the cottons 40oc for everything unless her daughters put the wash on for towels or bedding etc. She used cottons medium soiling 40oc. The old machines model is ae130.

Quattro 'Easy Logic'
A friend of mine had one from 2001, either the 1300 or 1400rpm model. It seemed fine at first but a year or so in, it started to rattle on spin (I think it was the door-release Bowden cable that was slapping off the side of the machine).
It then developed screwy programmes: if you turned the knob too quickly, the 'spin alone' programmes became wash programmes! It took ages of twiddling and fiddling to get the programmes back in their proper places.
I also detested the Candy designed powder drawer. It had silly slots that allowed powder to trickle down onto the soapbox surround. Also, the fabric conditioner siphon never worked properly.
I preferred the operation of the previous 'New Wave' range.
But, give its due, the 'Quattro' had a more resilient door interlock peg; it was made of metal. The 'New Wave' had a troublesome plastic peg that wore down quite quickly.

Hey guess what everyone!
They got their new machine today, its the Hoover VHD862. First to rinse it out i put it on the 14 minute rapid and it took 15 minutes by count and it was great, the jumps on spin are quick, specially when it ramps up to 800 for rapid 14. Its 8kg 1600spin A+AA. They love it and they can fit louds of clothes towels etc in it, it can fit in 10 towels which are bath towels (big) and the old one only took 6.
They love it. What do you think of that machine?

I wish them the VERY best of luck with it! Most people know what happened to mine! And I know of a few others that have had similar experiences!
Hopefully theirs will be a good one and not like the majority though

You had the VHD8162 didn't you. Maybe they've improved it, this is the VHD862 and guess what. First load 10 big towels and coped perfectly well. On yours you didn't have the rapid 14 did you?
Thats a great program, i think it is a must on every machine. And the ramp to 8oo on spin is great, short but fast spin ramping.
Excellent washing and spinning results.
BTW- Someone took the old washer hoover ae130 in the 1st hour of it being outside. lol
