I am looking for information on the new Whirlpool Duet washer and dryer with the LCD screens.  Specifically, does the dryer offer reverse tumbling like the Vantage dryer?

Well malcolm, I looked at the Vantage user guide as well as through all the "sales" b-s at Whirlpool and I didn't see anything mentnioned about reverse tumbling either location. I even did a search for the word reverse. And now I'm curious about why therre's the "Precision Dispense" mentioned on a dryer.

Adaptive Tumbling

Malcolm, I did find a feature set from a retailer and a feature mentioned is adaptive tumbling--but I cannot find the term on Whirlpool web site. Am getting some funky search results in trying to find out more about this. Well, appears adaptive tumbling has nothing to do with reverse tumbling. Has to do with temperature and air flow adjustments. [this post was last edited: 2/5/2011-20:10]

Adaptive Tumbling

I agree.  I cannot find any explanation of "Adaptive Tumbling" anywhere on the Whirlpool website.

Isn't there a Maytag dryer that reverses? The Bravos X, I think. I only found this one video from WhirlpoolCorpCare on YT mentioning Adaptive Tumbling.

No Explanation

It's so funny how Whirlpool obviously coins the fraise "Adaptive Tumbling" yet leave it to the user to figure out what it means.

It could be any number of things but sadly I don't think it means the drum changes direction.

The first generation FrigiLux dryers (1996) had reverse tumbling.  The electric model reversed every 2-3 minutes.  The gas model (which I had) reversed about every 7 minutes, as I recall.  It was great for keeping pillowcases from balling up inside fitted sheets.  Don't know why it was such a short-lived feature---I really liked it.

But I have to agree with the others, here.  I doubt adaptive tumbling means reverse tumbling.

I do remember reading about the adaptive tumbling somewhere in the whirlpool literature. I will see if I can find it - but it said that it adjusted the speed of the tumbling. I believe it is safe to assume the new line of dryers have separate motors for the blower and drum.

Why Oh Why is it that Whirlpool seams to have issues with interior washer lights?? They are the only ones who, along with their other owned brands, refuse to put any kind of illumination in their washers.
