Mine is from 1948 and it is a fun machine to play with. Original craigslist pix I got it from attached. It works like new but the owners manuals were definitely biased that men paid for the washer and the happy housewife did the wash.
Those Kenmore Wringer Washers Are Huge Beasts
If one had room would be tempting as parts (if ever needed) likely are easier sourced than from some other vintage wringers.
Don't know about that near one grand price though.

Last Of The Kenmore-Whirlpool Wringers
These were far and away the best WWs ever built and sold in the US.
Even so they probably will not get nearly $1000 for it.
The serial # is not correct as it should start with a J for the plant these were built in, St Joseph Michigan.

I gave the previous owner $50 for mine and thankfully it was just 5 miles away. I wonder what they put thru the wringer to tear the paint off the drainboard.

Seems common enough with many old wringer washers. Say this as one who has spent hours pouring over CL and eBay listings.
My guess is the paint was not very durable and between hot water and caustic substances it just wore off. That and if persons didn't lift laundry being fed through the wringer and allowed it to "drag" up the drain board into the rollers.
Think the more high end wringer washers (Blackstone, Maytag, etc...) used various baked on enamel coatings which probably were more durable. Others simply went with chrome which solves that issue.

These WP-KM WWs are no larger in foot print than MT WWs and most other for that matter, they are a lot safer and quieter because of the full skirt however.

I don't know that the plastic wrap on the rollers convinces me that it's unused. They are very quiet (near silent) machines. I always thought that being direct drive had a lot to do with the quietness.
