Where in hell do they get off thinking that broken down range is worth $350 or more? You can't reproduce that glass light lens. Like you said Kenny, a lot for what it needs. Well, they paid to list it. Either no bids will put some sense in them or they will pick up their toys and go home.

When my brother and his partner in the mid 1970s bought the house on Mobile Ave. in Atlanta, a stove just like this one was in the kitchen, except it was in better shape. I wish it could have been saved for me when they remodeled, but all I got was the use and care book.

Tom, I think my dream range, if I were to have a large enough kitchen, would be the 40" Westinghouse in your collection, where the whole 40" is the oven! That was the most awesome oven I've ever seen. It would be great for company!

Assuming GF provided a link to eBay, which is a blocked site here at work. I'm interested in knowing the vintage of this stove.

My mom's daily driver 1949 Westinghouse will be up for grabs eventually and I'd like to find it a good home. I think AW is about the best place to accomplish that, so if anyone is interested let me know. I have pix I can send to interested parties. Scott, it's 40" or so, but it's half oven and half huge storage drawer.

Scott, Thank you for remembering that wonderful range. The oven is only 36 inches wide; there is good insulation around it. Sorry to disappoint Maytag when they claimed in the 90s that their electric ranges were on to something new with the recessed broiler, but the oven in this range has two recessed broilers spanning the top of the oven. There is a switch to select one or both when broiling and it has plenty of room for two broiling pans. In the early 80s, my brother of blessed memory discovered a second hand appliance shop near the intersection of Columbia Drive and Glenwood Road, just for John and me to visit when we went to Atlanta, but he also told the man that we were interested in combos. The owner saved a green LK combo for us and on one trip, we discovered that range lying on its back behind the place like it was going to be junked. I had seen ads for it in the Saturday Evening Post and knew we had to save it so we brought it home with us. The thickness of the porcelain on the range is amazing.

Mister Toggle, your mother's saying does not work on eBay unless the seller stipulates that they will accept the best offer below the asking price and these people are convinced that they are selling one of the great treasures of the world.
