VCCC and nasty old bitter queens........

John, Robert and company,

I'm the first to admit as the past president of the VCCC that the website we developed is AWFUL! It is against everything I wanted as well as many of the members, but the webmaster is the LA equivalent of the Wicked Witch Of The West in terms of running it and Robert and I have discussed this on some level.

Us VCCC folks are MOST grateful that we can post here with text and pics until we have Robert design our own interactive website, (it is forthcoming and details will be announced when appropriate), and then less space will be used by those of us with a vacuum fettish or the like.

Charlie

And, yes, the VCCC, members do pay an annual fee for basically 4 newsletters that are now non-existent. It is my hope as the past Pres. and current Board Member, that we can become a totally all on-line affair and dump the newsletter which is terribly expensive.

John, I am sorry that the VCCC website is so "nothing." I did my best to try to change it on more than one occasion but it was always the webmaster, not the Board or membership, that put up the resistance.

The VCCC certainly has it share of bitter old VERY nasty queens, (all over a hobby that's focus is machines that pick up dirt, go fgure), but I think there is light at the end of the tunnel. There is a very dedicated, centered group of us that want the club to thrive and be fun and interactive like what we see here.........what we have to do is change the leadership, get the membership on board and THANK Robert for building us a website that will allow those things to happen.

Enough said. I for one, would be willing to make a reasonable/sizeable donation to Applianceville as a token of my appreciation for being so wonderful to me and the vacuum collector people. We have been treated wonderfully by the folks of Applianceville and I'm so glad we have been able to "suck" vacuum appreciation people out of their closets.

After several of us vac folk started posting pics of our collections and mini-meets, lots of pics of other people's collections of vacuums and appliances popped up and I say, HORAY for that. Aren't we fortunate to have this site, courtesey of Robert and John, to which I say again and again, thank you.

So, maybe someday they will let us contribute $$$$ as a way of saying thanks and hopefully in the near future we will be able to bop back and forth from Applianceville to Vacuumland and let the posting continue.

Now I'm certainly not trying to discourage anyone from posting pictures. Our pictures and videos are what sets our Discuss-o-Mat apart from so many other plain old text based discussion boards such as the THS Appliance Forum. I mean how can you describe some of these fabulous machines without a picture(s), its just not the same. I just wanted to let everyone know that I cant save these pictures forever and I'm going to have to be more diligent about deleting old stuff in the future. Unfortunately as we grow stuff will become older faster, so we will need to find more space at some point. I can't believe between all of us we posted almost 4000 pictures in just over a year, until I did the math tonight I had no idea. It just shows what a creative group we are.

With that said there are some of us who have our own server space and know how to use the HTML IMG command to automatically call the picture into their post from another web server. If you can do this great go ahead, it will save on both expensive bandwidth and server disk space. But if not please feel free to continue to use the Upload JPEG box upload your relevant pictures here.

John I have thought about adding a donation button, something I may do someday, but selling the washer DVD's are a fun way to raise the necessary cash to pay the server fees too, so if I get time this autumn I want to finish that 1951 General Electric washer DVD.

Yes Charlie, I'm thrilled that a few of the vacuum club members are using the super forum as a temporary hotel until we can get Vacuumland built. Vacuums are so cool too! You guys deserve you own site filled with vacuum videos, vac advertisement Pictures of the Day and a Discuss-O-Vac of your very own.

Hooray for a new vacuum website!! For one thing there should be a pre-entry warning such as "bitter ol queens and crusty old farts need not apply" Would probably be too much to ask for a "Dyson-free zone" hahahaha.
What is it with some of those vac people that makes them so unpleasant you'd like to squish them like a bug.

I'm going to open a new thread...

...on the vac club(s) subject, so as not to fork this one. I hope that's ok. If it sinks like a stone, that's cool -- I just don't want to detract from Robert's call to server space/pic concerns...

Thanks,

John

W00t!

Oh wow, that's great news...I can't wait until Vacuumland is finished! The fact that the VCCC costs $23 a year to join isn't much of a problem, it's that you have to be 18 to join and that 99.9% of the site is locked out to non-members! "CIA material" indeed! OY...

Looking forward to a new site!
