So sorry to hear about Kurt. I was wondering about the name because I'm partial to simple short names for dogs. Had two Bob's and now a Ben and ummm Parker who we didn't name because he was a rescue. It's strange how when you tell someone their name,, ie Bob or Ben they look at you kinda funny, did you ever get that with Kurt?

When I would mention Kurt's name, his ears would go up and he'd look at me like "OK, What's Next?"
Now with Kelley, our 16 year old Dalmatian she chose her own name. She didn't have one at the shelter we got her from, there she was known as "dog 2572". Whenever we acquire a new dog we take it directly to our vet for a full health checkup. We asked out vet what for a name suggesion, and she suggested "Chelsea" as she knew another Dalmatian with that name and she lived a very long life.
So we called her that for a couple of days, but then I thought it just didn't sound right. So one night I was playing around with varying sounds off of Chelsea. I was in the Den and "Chelsea" was in the kitchen. One of the sounds was "Kelley". She immediately came in the living room and looked at me. I said her name again, and she came running to me. SO either her previous name WAS Kelley and I hit it on the nose, or she knew someone named Kelley. So the name stuck.

Whirlcool, I sorry for your loss. I didn't realize what happened. I lost my boy a few years ago. It's tough but gets better. I now have a 2yr old P.I.T.A. Good luck & God bless.
