No start, no power: Maytag LA108

I recently replaced the damper pads & new v-belts on my machine. I was running thru all cycles before I made these repairs, now I cannot get it to run at all? I have noticed that the motor governor tab is fully depressing the motor start switch at all times. Could this be my issue? If so, what is the remedy?

This is the normal rest position. The motor is waiting to be energized, and the centrifugal weight is pushing in on the start switch so that the start winding is engaged. The moment with the power is applied to the motor, as the motor gets up to speed the centrifugal weights fly out in the pressure is released on the motor start switch and allows. Only the run winding to stay in the circuit to keep the motor running.

If the machine is completely dead and won’t fill or run, then start with the lid switch then the timer are really the only two things that control everything other than just the power cord.

Did you purchase genuine Whirlpool/Maytag belts or aftermarket? I wouldn't be surprised if an aftermarket transmission belt tripped the protection circuit on the motor during the spin cycle.

It's possible the lid switch is tripped, like it had an overload. Reposition the tub.

I was thinking about the lid switch too, but figured I'd let someone else mention it.

Wow, that just goes to show us that "AI" is not always correct in it's very authoritative replies. Much better to rely on those with +50 years experience that know what they are talking about. I'd read it, for a laugh.
It's just like talking to a robo caller who doesn't understand or shut up when I'm talking.
I'd sooner give Last Rights to the turd in my toilet before I flush it down.
