Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Your agitator should NOT float up like it did at the 0:06 mark.

Check to make sure the 1/4" screw on the side of the agitator near the base is not too loose or missing.

The agitator shaft might be pulling its way out of the transmission. There's a couple of reasons that happens.

I noticed that also in the video, the 1/4" head screw is intact and tight.

Before I took the video, the agitator would not move at all during the wash cycle, just spin freely, pushing the agitator down and rotating it seemed to have engaged the shaft somewhere in the transmission, for how much longer I've no idea.

What would be the causes for the agitator shaft to be pulling it's way out of the transmission?

For what it's worth, the machine has been making the knocking/grinding sound for quite some time now.
