Apple makes absolutely beautiful hardware.. but there's also a price premium for that beauty.

They make decent hardware, but sometimes they put form over function.

From an IT point of view, non-iOS devices are a nightmare to administrate in the Enterprise, only because Apple thinks more of the consumer and not the professional. The iOS devices, like the iPhone and iPad, are much easier to administrate.

I'll just leave it at that before I start a flamewar on the topic.

Pleased Macbook Pro Owner

I have to say, I am pleased with my late 2011 Macbook Pro owner. Not only has this laptop not failed me with random Linux CPU/RAM hog times (Old Toshiba TE2300 + Xubuntu for around 30mins after boot up = CPU @ 100% and RAM slightly hogged), it has run really great.

The best feature is the better battery. No laptop I've seen can come close to what this thing will do. And, MiniBatteryLogger states that my battery isn't due to "die" for another 5 3/4 years! That is using this thing for around 2 hours daily on battery, then charging back up again.

The only problem I have is some weird glitch where the trackpad stops responding on occasion. Also, there seems to be a "micro click" option, which is you can make the pad "click" by only pushing .5mm, and its not the actual "CLICK" you would use for opening stuff on-screen. Bit confuzzled, but happy.

Mine is the 13" with Office 2011 and the Extended Warranty (recommended by a friend who is an Apple fanatic).

P.S. Here is something that will make you hate Microsoft: I set some writing on Microsoft Word to BOLD and is set across the page. Open it in Word 2003 and the writing decides to move back where it was before I used the margins to push the point along the page... So, my solution now is to save stuff as PDF when it needs to be used on other systems that have the old version - and make edits on my Macbook...
