Oh my . . .
"While the machines were at first unreliable, technology has developed so quickly that now there is 'the image of the super woman, smiling, made up and radiant among the appliances of her house', wrote Osservatore."
When I read this I can only figure that the godly men (and surely they'e all men) at Osservatore must have found their image of modern women from our much-loved Picture of the Day collection. Smiling and radiant indeed as she pulls a box of Tide out of a spanking new Kelvinator, or perhaps amazed at how the GE Filter-Flo saves pink sweaters from linting up. I doubt that they like the Dash detergent POD however, given that while the woman might be radiant she also looks dangerously over-liberated, something to strike fear into the hearts of the devout. Goodness knows, she might have even chosen and paid for her own washing machine!
