But how, when, where do these - er -- uh interesting people determine what is acceptable and what is not. And even worse how does it get fixed in their minds as correct or desirable!

If you can yourself into bad and ridiculosu habits, you can get yourself out!

Update

The Heifer Cow is still running around with her head up her keister. I quit even trying to speak to her as I felt it reinforced her superior stance when she stuck her nose in the air an walked off. I do still flip her off behind her back.

She has a new person training her, and she made the comment to our supervisor about how thankful she was "she learned more from him in 30 minutes than I taught her in the last 90 days."

Poor miserable little __________ doesn't realize that he is actually employed to document her unwillingness to do her job and present his report to the director. So now there could be two outcomes: 1. She can do her damn job. 2. She can continue to be contentious and lose her job.
Either of the above will not make me sad.

Sounds like a win-win situation for you. Just be professional and let her dig her own grave. It sounds like she won't be employed there much longer if she keeps up that current attitude.
