Thats quite remarkable-----no significant rust showing on the washer! And a PAIR!

These will make a great set in anyone's collection.

Fab Paaannnk Set!

I don't believe I've ever seen a pink Westinghouse set before! Someone better be camped out on this guy's back porch ready to bid and pick these beauties up.

What other colours did these Westyslantfronts (hi Ross) come in? I do recall seeing turquoise and, of course, the ubiquitious white.

Amazing set there - no real rust damage and they look fab together! This set will be the talk of the neighborhood for the lucky winner - WOW! BTW - what was the first year for the light in the wash tub on Westys?

Ben

I don't wanna here "If I only lived closer" th

Um, California is a VERY big state, and it's a full day's drive from Sac or SF down to where these washers are. Maybe more in an old pickup truck :).

I will pass on these. Pink doesn't do much for me. The pushbutton control panels are cool, though.

I could live with pink !!!!!

Maybe lbcarguy will change his mind and give them to me for my birthday!!! I suppose I could race down to Southern Ca
and rest for a week in Palm Springs and check Dick's progress
with the 4 - Star Set!!

OH MY GOD!!! They are right here in Orange County! I was rolling up my sleeves to bid, but another local club member has bid and he has room to install them. I'd have to put them into storage until I bought another house for them...ha! I hope he wins them because I'll be right over with a load of clothes! Hear that, Mikey??

I think they are a beautiful set but space in my garage in limited. I sure miss not having a basement.
I hope someone will rescue the set.

Ross

Greg, wasn't there also a seafoam green pair in the AZ desert within the last year that someone had been using all these years? I thought someone in the club also got those!!

Those are my ultimate dream machines, and my laundry room happens to be painted that PRECISE color....

Oh, well. If this one still exists, there have to be more on the East Coast, as well.

What fantastic machines. If only they were within driving distance, I'd snap 'em up in an instant. Almost my dream pair. I've always wanted a set with the square window.

Please, somebody rescue these babes.

Jerry Gay

That's not Jimmy that won the machines, but that's a familiar eBay ID. You'd think that with the ending price of these, they could certainly have a Kenmore shipped...

You Gotta Know When To Fold 'Em, Know When To Hold '

Really have to admire those last minute bidders. Last time one checked this auction, several days ago, only one lonely bid. IIRC the pink Maytag set posted last year was the same way and went for about the same amount.

The winning bidder's name sounds familar, and believe he is a member or at least will help out if there is a rush. *LOL*

Winning bid

If I didn't know better, I might almost detect the need to apologize for having been the winning bidder for the Westinghouses. Did I fail to have a Kenmore shipped from WESTYTOPLOADER at some point? I'm drawing a blank on that topic, but if I am guilty of it, please fill me in on the details, and I render apologies and state "for the record" that I am only able to spend the price for the pink Westinghouses because not too long ago I sold my 1962 Oldsmobile. And, the Westinghouses are only about two or two-and-one-half hours south of town. All of that aside, I also don't recall making any snide comments about anybody else's finds or winnings, and in fact the only snide comment I recall making was about the Cleaver family being too squeaky clean to have the need for laundry equipment in their Retro TV home.

Nice set!!!! congratulations. I must say though that many people don't really realize they have a fortune in their basement/garage! Course, I definitely wouldn't mind having a set like this myself.

ManorAvenue, a sincerre congratulatonis!!! I am, like I said above, glad it stayed within the club and and a perosn will lovingly take care of these.

I am sorry if anyone made snide comments to you. I look forward to detailed pics when you are able!!! Bob

Thank you -- and another Westinghouse pair is for sale in to

Thank you for your kind messages of thanks. As I've said to some already, I've just been watching for a matching Laundromat washer for the 1954 dryer I already have, and look what came along! Am hoping Vintage Transport will get them here damage-free as they've done in the past with other moving jobs.

A local retro furnishings shop just got in a Westinghouse pair that I am told has been in an estate storage locker for many, many years. I would estimate it to be towards the tail end of the slanted-front design years, maybe 1962 or 1963 model? Also, it is definitely not the top-of-line bells-and-whistles pair. The washing machine, when plugged in, is getting juice to the timer, but the tub seems to be frozen up and doesn't want to turn much even by hand. The buttons for the water temperature selection also seemed abnormally stiff. I believe the dryer is a gas dryer, and I am told the man consigning the pair has the missing timer knob. If interested, call the store, whose name is YOSHI NOW, and if you speak to either of the owners, Yoshi or Joy, tell them George Hewett sent you. (559) 485-8142. I don't have a digital camera so was not able to take pictures, but they might be able to do that for you.

When the pink pair gets here and I can take some pictures with a regular camera and have them developed, I'll scan and send to you.

Thanks again --
George

Congratulations George

Now we can compare washability with my white set when you get them up and running.
My washer needs new spin bearings they are getting really noisey, I hope yours are in good shape.
Not a bad price for the set.
So does your Vintage Transport just cover the LA area or are they a nationwide group--just in case.

cheers
jon & Al
