Beautiful machines Robert. I'm sorry to hear someone took the knob. Probably some unsupervised kid or someone who thought it would work to replace a broken plastic POS one.
But you have been lucky in the past so hopefully a replacement will turn up soon.

Great set Robert! Very un-Westy like in that I don't see any rust - anywhere! ;-)
Hopefully the mechanicals are in as good of shape as the exterior and boot. That knob is a bitch - hurts as bad as if someone took some paint and went graffiti-crazy on the set.

I couldn't believe my eyes when you posted that the washer knob had been taken. We can only hope it was by some young washer-lover that will treasure it forever and always keep secret where it came from when asked by his mother!
I got to thinking a while ago that my Victrola has a similar cover on the spindle, I wonder if that might work?

My grandmother had that same machine (in white)in her house when I was just a kid. I used to sit on the kitchen floor in front of it and play with the machine. Glad ganksy can help you out with the dial. Would love to see a whole cycle video when you have it up and running.

Robert, we had the same westy's in white. Sorry about the a##hole taking the dial from the Laundromat. My parent's laundromat lasted until the late 1960's they kept the dryer, (it flips upside down to stack), and it was working when they traded it in around 1975. I am so happy you were able to get these. Did they have the manual's? they are the ones that have the little cartoon character, called "The Silent Watchman", for off balance safety stop. arthur

Great find Robert. My brother John just delivered the Westinghouse combo to me that came from your collection. I love how "Trickle Down" works!

I think it would be very convenient to have those in the kitchen. Neal would never have to go downstairs in the basement to do laundry when you're away. I think that would be quite a relief, I'm sure it's hard for him to see the difference between a classic machine and one of those modern ones. I'm doing the thinking here for you!! Does this sound convincing?
BTW, this isn't your first space mate dryer IIRC, wasn't there one left in the previous house........??
