When referring to early- to mid-sixties Frigidaires, why are they referred to as "diaper washers"?

As Toggle said, "enquiring minds want to know."

And as revenge, you can feel free to take two days to give me the answer.

I've always heard them referred to as "baby-washers", usually the BOL models with only a normal cycle and a soak cycle, hot or warm wash temps.

Someone probably has a copy of the ad (63-64?) showing these machines and a stack of baby diapers and clothes on the counter behind.

LOL, are you saying that you don't know what is the answer? I don't know if I'm right or not, but it seems reasonable. If not, I imagine someone with all the 'inside' scoop and historical details will come along with a correction.

Well Steve (Gyrafoam) just told me last Sunday while on the phone what a diaper washer was. I never knew they were referred to as that. Simple and cheap for new families

The diaper washer ad has been a POD here.

Geez, I ansered this riddle on another thread which was prompted by Toggle. So glad to know I'm so well read.

Hey, Simple and Cheap, speaking of soaking.....

...How's the situation in your part of the Guyland with all of the rain? Let us know in the yellow puddle. And all of the other members in the Northeast, our thoughts are with you. Hope you are OK.
