Just inherited an old mixmaster from aunt that passed away. It runs good but only on high speed. Is it farily easy to fix. Probabally 35 to 40 years old. Plan on using it some but our Kitchenaid will still be the workhorse for us.

The speed control turns but even on 1 is fast speed.

Thanks for any help.

mixmaster problem

Hi, it sounds to me like your switch has bit the dust, mine does the same thing. are you able to turn it off on the switch or do you have to unplug it? if the switch won't turn it off you most lickly you have a blown switch.

60skelvinator,

It turns on and off with the switch. Got into it last night and has bunches of old batter stuck in there. Will try to clean. Will also look online for new switch.

MIXMASTER

HI
THERE ARE ACOUPLE THINGS YOU CAN TRY, ITS A GOVENOR CONTROL SWITCH, MORE JUICE FASTER SPEED, THERE ARE COOPER SQUARES ON ROTATING SWITCH, TRY VERY FINE SANDPAPER ON CONTACTS AND SEE IF IT HELPS, IT MAY GIVE YOU SOME SPEED RANGE, ALSO IF THERES LOTS OF FLOUR DUST IN BACK END, IT DOES SLOW THINGS DOWN, SOME WD-40 MIGHT HELP ALSO

Mine does the same too. I will a look at it soon, if i get a solution I will post it here. Mine is an Australian produced model but I assume they are pretty much the same. I used to know clearly how the speed controller works but it has been years and the cobwebs have set in.

Chris.
