Hi everyone, my id supremewhirlpol doesn't work, so I'm using the id fsp45905.
I have 2 machines that must go:
RCA Whirlpool Imperial Mark XII 3 speed with Super wash
model number:LRA992
This machine needs a belt, but otherwise works.

Whirlpool Design2000 6 cycle 2speed
model number: LA5600XPW3
no issues with this machine

I want these machines to go to good homes, rather than the scrap yard. First come first served. If interested, please contact me through email.

These machines are free to a good home, otherwise LAST CALL! They and the condenser get carted off Friday!

I always thought those vintage say mid 70's Whirlpools had that waterfall lint filter with either the "bed of nails" or "bristle brush".

Neither of these machines is a 1970s model.

The LRA9920 Imperial Mark XII is 1968. Top-of-the-line model, recirculating/self-cleaning filter module outside the tub, mounted in the cabinet. Lower-end models at that time would have had a brush filter.

The LA5600XP Design 2000 is 1985. Direct-drive machines can't have recirculating filters, the pump doesn't support it. The only kind of filter they can have is passive. Very early Kenmore models (not sure about Whirlpool) had a manual clean filter in the agitator barrel, which worked via water currents similar to classic Maytags. Otherwise, direct-drive models, and also belt-drives toward the end, had a comb filter mounted under the spin basket. Small fins under the agitator base helped move water through the filter, then collected lint was "spun off" for self-cleaning.

I think LRA is 1967-1966, otherwise this machine would be just a Whirlpool if it were 1968. This machine is RCA Whirlpool. Parting out = time I don't have. The Design 2000 DD above is NOT a spin-drain model. I just may post a pic of my spin-drain model Design 2000 if I get some time.

Glenn -

Whirlpool had a filter in some of their early DD agitators too, in fact they survived longer than Kenmore's did I think. One of my neighbors in 1986, when I bought my new BD, got a Whirlpool 27" direct drive with the 2.5 cu. ft basket. The agitator looked like the other Direct Drive Surgilators at the time, but the whole upper portion of the agitator snapped off to reveal a lint filter that needed to be manually cleaned. I think this configuration was in production for some time.

I know the WP parts catalog I have had an agitator diagram showing this set-up if you'd like me to scan it for you.

WP DD Washers With Agitator Mounted Lint Filters

WP did not do this long on the 2.5 and 3 cubit foot tubs, I only remember seeing a few of these machines, however on the compact 1.5 cubic foot tub machines this filter was used on all WP and GE versions of this washer and is still being sold today, we installed a new 24" TT last week with this filter.
