I notice the older over the range microwaves had a much bigger control panel than the newer ones do, like my attached photo shows. To me the older ones look more robust, and in a way I like the sort of vintage look that they have. Were they better made than the newer ones? Interestingly this Whirlpool was made in Korea, not China. I would expect USA made for one of this era (October 1993), but I suppose microwaves were one thing that was made overseas early on.

My neighbor also had an Amana Radarange OTR micro from the early 90s era and I liked how it looked too. She also had a Maytag wall over and dishwasher and Amana side by side.

For some reason the early 90s white on white is one of my favorite eras. I actually like it better than the 80s woodgrain and almond in a way.

Such a pity they never made it to here

I have searched and still not been able to find OTR Microwave for use on 240v such a wonderful space saver, I have noticed on newer Dream Homes the program with the twin developers ( Swoon ) they are using stainless chimneys like we already have maybe we will swap designs and start having OTR models instead ??

Most were still

Korean made back then. My GE Profile from '96 still worked when we remodeled. It outlasted the Kenmore that was here when we moved in. I know it wasn't over 8 years old.
