I notice the older over the range microwaves had a much bigger control panel than the newer ones do, like my attached photo shows. To me the older ones look more robust, and in a way I like the sort of vintage look that they have. Were they better made than the newer ones? Interestingly this Whirlpool was made in Korea, not China. I would expect USA made for one of this era (October 1993), but I suppose microwaves were one thing that was made overseas early on.
My neighbor also had an Amana Radarange OTR micro from the early 90s era and I liked how it looked too. She also had a Maytag wall over and dishwasher and Amana side by side.
For some reason the early 90s white on white is one of my favorite eras. I actually like it better than the 80s woodgrain and almond in a way.
