It was delivered to my home today. FREE of charge, by Mr. Andrews (those of you who have followed my post will know who Mr. Andrews is)

Does it work? Can you transplant it to your 1-18?

This is the one I saw in Tulsa - fabulous machine! Just wait until you hear that timer advancing, one of my favorite washer sounds ever!

The Maytag 906 was actually long gone by the time this machine was made, the last rapid-advance machines were from KitchenAid/WP in the mid-late 80's.

And here is the dryer - a rapid-advancing timer on a dryer is a particularly exciting sound, so rare!

FRIGIDAIRE Jet -Action 1-18 Custom Imperial Washer Dryer

I had a set and was surprised to see that it (the washer) would not agitate in the high speed mode unless the water was at a certain level.This I found out was automatic and kept the water from splashing all over the place and kept the rust factor down.The washer is a 3 sped agitate 2 speed spin model and has a full width flurescent panel light.Lots of fun!!!!!

How does it work, do you set your programmes, fabric, time & options starting LHS, then press start and the timer moves to where it should be??

When I lived in Annandale, VA, there was a MEMCO department store nearby. I bought groceries there and just happened to get to the grocery store at the back by walking past the appliance department. I remember how fascinated I was when this pair appeared on the floor. I had to go investigate them and push the button to get the timer to move. Then a few months later, I looked across to the appliance dept. and saw a different control panel on a Frigidaire washer. I walked over and noticed the Westinghouse-shaped lid. When I opened the machine, I "liked ta died," (would have liked to have died)as we say in the South. It was horrible, not that I was goo-goo over the 1-18; we had one at home, but it was the end of the road for Frigidaire. OY!

As soon as we got the Imperial 1-18, I showed mom the Special cycle program and told her to use only that setting when she washed a very small load of things that could take a fast spin.

Are we sure this is a 3 speed machine? There is no "handwash" setting in the "Fabric Type" buttons. The "Knit" cycle is a soak-and-wash cycle with a cooldown. But if this was a 3 speed machine, the control panel wire harness may not fit the same harness for a 2 speed machine.

Some things are way too cool about this 1-18, like the automatic slow agitation when the water level is at "Small" or lower. The cycle and fabric buttons meant nearly endless combinations of water temp and speed.

While this washer looks way cool, I love the look of the dryer! So masculine, clean and modern!

Only a two speed motor for all 78-79 models in the Tech-Talk including this "Elite" - the first use of this name on a washer by Frigidaire. There was a Custom Imperial (WCI-G or WCI-B) but they were only two speed as well.

Thanks being interested. Really don't know about the in's and out's of this rare control panel. Gansky1, thanks for all the pictures and information on the machine.

Don't know if it works or not. It has been in an outside barn where rats or something have chewed wires in 1/2. Not too bad however. The buttons are in need of a lot of crc contact cleaner. I have not had time to check the wiring connector to my WC yet to see if they are the same. I am with peterh on the "Handwash". I don't think this was a three speed machine like the ones from 70-75 or.

Will keep ya'll posted when I do something with it.

And helicaldrive, you better run very fast, asking me about that rollermatic. Still an awful subject with me boy!

I did however win the spin clutch that was on ebay for a mere $202.50. YIKES, more money on that machine.

Hi Steve,

The WEG console will switch out with any other 2 speed 1-18 console. I do switch mine on occasion. Interesting that the water level indicator is broken on mine, too. That type of plastic probably was not meant to be bent and used as it was. Frigidaire should have made a different design. And have you noiticed that while Frigidaire put a 'line' on the knob, it doesn't mean a thing. The water lever knob turns 270 degrees and this line doesn't point to anything!

BTW....I'm still hunting up the other rollermatic parts for you.
