OMG, HERE WE GO AGAIN

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Veg, the sanitize feature was a setting to clean themachine after doing laundry for someone that had an ilness in the house. You set the waetr level at a lower setting, added a cup of bleach and let it finish the rince and spin. All that splashing and such with the concentrated bleach sanitized and cleaned out the machihne.

I know I'm gonna get it for this one! But I can't he

YUCK! I wouldn't throw it away or anything. I just don't like the 70's stuff! ( Just my opinion!) No hate email please!

Yuk? I think not...

Watch what you say about this 1-18---I might be the next owner! ;-) 70's appliances (especially the washers of course) are cool anyway...

Now if it was a rare Frigidaire 24" Agitub machine, Robert should DEFINITELY keep it!

70'S STUFF

Hi Bethann, I am with you all the way on that one. I hate 70's stuff with a passion!Rusty poor quality cars. The green and gold appliances and orange carpet, dark cabinets, shag carpet,oh the list goes on!I feel sick! YUK!

Hopefully you can get it! And of course I'm happy for you! You know there are a lot of people that don't like pink appliances, but that's OK. That just means that there is more for me! Trust me if I find any 70's W/D they are all yours!

I LOVE the '70's

I like the restful natural colors of the '70's, but I do agree that a lot of things back then were built really cheaply and tended to "ugly out" rather quickly.

And Bethann, for you to make an adverse comment about a REAL Frigidaire washer! I KNOW whats in YOUR laundry room! (but I'm not gonna 'out' you) You should have such a fine washer! (I love to tease Bethann! Just in fun of course!)

Between the old Helical drive Maytags, the belt drive Whirlpools, Filter-flo GEs and the Frigidaire 1-18, the "70"s had some pretty decent washers. Every now and then, when I worked at the independant appl. dealer, some one would come in and ASK for a frigidaire washer. Every one of the people had an old 1-18 at home that still was working. Never had anyone want to repeat a WCI built machine- Hmmmmm.

Yes Joe, the spin speed did decrease with the perforated-tub models, from 1010 (the Rapidry 1000 speed) to about 660 RPM. If I'm not mistaken 660 was the fastest spin available through the 1970's on full-sized automatic washers.

Early WCI 1-18s are neat in the fact they have a window lid...call me crazy, but if I saw one I'd snap it up. I like the early WCI washer mechanism due to the fact we had one when I was little :) I prefer WCI's speckled porcelain tub over plastic.

I've got my eye open for machines around here...but there are a lot of "penny-pinchers" in my area. :( I'm still checking the used-appliance stores to see if they have "anything". Next on my list: a 1970's Norge! With any luck at all it will be easier to find than a GM Frigidaire...YAY!

Thanks everyone!

Cleaning the lint filter

I think what youd do is spray it with your faucet sparyer or take a pin and scrape it out
