When looking for listed appliances my teeth grit when I see:

--A unitized washer and dryer being listed as a "stackable" washer and dryer.
"Stackable indicates the ability to be stacked. These one piece units cannot be stacked or unstacked (at least not without an acetylene torch.)

--A wringer washer listed as a "ringer" washer.

--Listing a totally wrong brand name. I have seen Whirlpools called GE's and a host of other misnomers. One would think they would look at the control panel before making a listing.

--Slaughtering the brand name. I have seen Hotpoints listed as Hotspots and many other equally bad spellings

--Bad picture taking. Wouldn't you think someone wanting to sell an item would want to present it in the best light? Yet I have seen extremely blurry pictures, pictures of the back of an item instead of the front, and pictures turned sideways.

I am not perfect and have made my share of typos on this site and online selling sites, but I wish people would at least TRY to show some intellect when listing an appliance for sale.

My venting for the day. :)

Don't get me started on house inspectors. We bought a condo (built 2006) last November for my father, who has since passed away. We re-listed the condo in August. Got a pretty quick offer, subject to inspection. Inspection came through, with several things noted; most critical was a crack in the basement wall. Other issues as well. Offer fell through (squirrelly buyer rather than anything else). Second offer came in; also subject to inspection. The buyer employed the same inspection company as the first buyer, which promptly found several other issues (most important was questions on the sump pump) and completely ignored the crack in the wall. Same company...it's a racket.

‘“Washer works great just doesn’t spin”

“Dryer works great just doesn’t heat”

“Refrigerator works great just doesn’t cool”

“Stove works great but oven doesn’t get hot”

“Dishwasher works great just leaks water”

All are easy fixes just don’t have time to fix.

Over the years I've seen just about every conceivable wringer washer brand in existence posted as a Maytag.

Typewriter lids and/or ribbon covers

Having owned in excess of 900 of the monsters, one does not necessarily preclude the other. They may be working perfectly but have a missing cover. Now if it's being described as "new condition" or "showroom" (how many times have we seen that?), that's a different story.

Do not know what people are doing to these washers

But keep coming across Miele and other washers where sellers are asking very dear money, but they need a "simple" repair; new rear bearings.

Other than that machine "works perfectly.....", they go onto say.

Replacing rear bearings on many domestic washing machines is usually neither a simple nor inexpensive affair.

Replacing rear bearings

On Miele, unless you're a good DIYer, it's near the cost of a new machine! And unless you have 2 strong folks doing it with an overhead pulley, you'd better have a block and tackle hoist!

misspelling and other misnomers

Just this past week I saw a "Westenhouse" refrigerator.

A couple of months back someone had a picture of a trash compactor on Craigslist and called it a "garbage disposal."

I believe I previously posted this but someone was selling a portable dishwasher as: "Dishwasher with a table on top."

My favorite. An individual was selling a central vacuum power unit. It was listed under: "Big vacuum."

As the saying goes: Nothing ventured nothing gained. But what gives me a cramp in the butt is when someone posts an appliance that "came with the house when we bought it" and has a ridiculous price on it. They have nothing invested in it but are looking to make a killing. Obviously they just want to get rid of it. So why not place a reasonable price on it? Often they don't get any replies because of the price or they won't take a reasonable offer from someone truly interested because they "think" it's worth more. Many times it ends up getting scrapped.
