Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

This morning we traveled to Merrill which is about 15 miles north of Wausau to look at machines at Hargrave Appliance where we've bought all of our major appliances in the past. Well, in our opinion the quality of the sales staff has gone completely down the tubes. The young chic was more interested in texting whomever than dealing with live customers. Unfortunately, she was the only salesperson working today. She kept trying to tell us to get rid of all our current almond appliances, and go with either stainless steel or black. Neither one of us care for stainless or black. We told her we would go home and think it over. We then headed straight for Gruett's Appliance on Merrill's west side. The saleswoman couldn't have been more helpful, and they had the exact model on display that we had previously looked at online at home. We did get the GE Model GDF520PGDCC in bisque. Gruett's does service what they sell, and have been an authorized GE dealer for over 90 years.

Well, it's been nearly 8 months since we got our GE dw, and we're very happy with it. The only problem is that sometimes all of the powdered detergent doesn't completely dissolve. I've been told that this is because new dishwashers are geared towards pods rather than loose detergent. Is this true?

Detergent Cup

Make sure nothing is obstructing wash spray from getting to the detergent dispenser. Might also want to be sure the cup is dry when adding powder.

Malcolm,

I've been making sure of all the things you mentioned, but every once in awhile there's still some detergent left in the dispenser. All of the detergent dissolved during last night's dw run.

I just took delivery of the exact same model last Friday to replace my grams TOL 1965 GE dishwasher.
It was $400 at the local mom and pop dealer I use.
I did 2 loads of dishes and corning ware from the cabinets.
It's so nice to not have the dishwasher rumble the entire house

Sam,

What color did you get? Ours was on sale @ $379.00. I managed to get the installation included at no extra charge, and the old dw was taken away as well.

I guess my near 8 y/o KM TT that uses 5.9 gallons on normal is considered a waterr hog now. I've hd very rare issues with powders remaining in cup undissolved. If one uses only pods, what about prewash detergent with extremely heavily soiled loads?

OMG!! I think hell just froze over. Sam bought a modern dishwasher.

I only bought it to save the old one and to prepare house for sale.

I have a modern dw at home too, it's a 2 yr old Kenmore 18" portable until I can do a partial kitchen redo and install the kitchenaid I'm storing
