Time for my sis and bro-in-law to get a new washer. A front load washer will not fit in their laundry area. That was my suggestion. <p> She emailed this to me and asked my opinion on this machine. We were basically a Kenmore family growing up. I dont know what is wrong with her. Except that when she got married her hubby and her bought a Maytag. LOL ! I will tell her in my opinion you cant go wrong with Kenmore. I wanted to ask opinions here though. I have not bought a washer since 1991. Things may have changed. Hey! Tom, why don't they look into one of the Fridgemore's? They might have a little smaller Capacity, but it would certainly fit where their Washer sits now. How many are in the Family, besides Sis and Bro-In-Law? These according to several Friends of mine who have owned them are very happy with the Kenmore specifically, as with a few Friends having the Frigidaire Models, but a couple of Friends that have gotten the GE Models have had the worst luck with them. They are also going to cost somewhat lower Pricing now, since they are on a clearance, until they are "No Longer Available" besides if they wouldn't mind some slight Scratches or Dents, they could go to a Sears Clearance Outlet Store and even save some more Money on one, but still also get the New Washer Warrantee and Extended Warrantee, if they feel the need for that as well.

I'm going to check out the local Sears Outlet Store to see how much they are selling the "Fridgemores" "FYI" hopefully in the near future to look into buying the Set, so I will have 2-Stacked Sets to operate at the same time. The Set that I've got now, has a Gas Dryer, so I would be looking into an Electric Dryer for the newer Matching Dryer.

Tom, I agree with Steve. See if the Fridgemore would fit. Now for the top loader, remember my experience with Shredmore--and Jason's too. Heavy Duty is 180 strokes/minute, normal is 120 strokes/minute (gentle on my 1st edition LK DD machine) and delicate is 90 strokes/minute. The warm atc is 90 degrees--bleh. Fortunately the machine offers non-atc temps for a good warm (104) and true hot. If she gets this one, mu suggestion is wash most everything at gentle wash/fast spin and make sure to tell her not to fill completely full, about 7/8ths fuul on that setting for good rollover. And if she has to use 180 strokes/minute (heavy duty) tell her to not wash anything more than 8 minutes max on that setting, it's just tooo harsh. A co-worker (who I WARNED) complained all her new towels purchased a year ago were all threadbare. found out she was washing them the furll 14 minutes on Heavy Duty speed combo. I gave her a dirty look and she said, I know I know, you warned me aobut that machine, I jsut didn't think it was gonna be that rough. As gansky1 says, a DD Whirlken only need to wash for 6 to 8 minuutes max. If my stuff has lots of stains, I soak the load during the wash phase of the cycle.

Hey! Bob, I was certainly hoping that someone would agree with me about looking into one of the "Fridgemore's" since they do have basically a smaller more Standard Cabinet and actually lots of Capacity considering. They are really great Washers and even the Dryers are great too, even if some seem to think that the Dryer Capacity isn't large enough, I've got several people that did in fact buy both the Washer and Matching Dryer and they are very happy with both Machines. Some of the Dryers also have the Stainless Steel Drum, where some of the others my Friends have bought are the Powder-Coated Drum. I would certainly prefer the Stainless Steel Drum myself personally.

I don't know what exactly you are copying into the URL window, but the links you post don't work. You can test them already in the Preview Message before you post the message finally. I assume you are using the AOL browser? I don't have it, but from what I understand you can't copy links from them. Perhaps somebody else can tell you more about this.

Speed Queen, fridgmore etc...

Steve, They have looked at the fridgemores. The problem with the space is not the size of the washer, but the location of it's door in relation to the closet and the bifold door in the laundry area. <p> Although, I think I am gonna do some measuring of my own and just see what's what. <p> Jimmy, I have been oogling the new Speed Queens myself. The nearest dealer is in Tulsa Oklahoma, about 95 miles away. Whereas I may be willing to do the 95 miles, I dont think I could talk my sis and her hubby into it. <p> Today my sis asked: So will you go out washing machine shopping with me ? HA I eagerly said yes ! <p> Toggle: I printed out the replies and took them up to my sisters office today, along with prinout of the fridgemore. She had me laughing so hard I was crying. I forgot.....

I did suggest to my sis that she could go vintage. I told her about the Kelvinator and the Kenmore that Greg had on Ebay. She just looked at me like I had lost my mind. If she only knew the joy one of those machines would bring her. I would come do her laundry every week for her :)
