Well, I broke down and ordered a box of Persil online. Plan to use it for whites only. I hope it is worth the expense. Any hints for best results?

It is worth it. You can use it on anything colorfast, really. As expensive as Tide is getting these days, Persil is still about the same cost wise. I have a whole house softner, and use just over a Tablespoon in my Miele (Euro version, 6kg), but I have never had to use more than 2. So, I get almost 3 times the loads out of one box. To me, it cleans, and rinses better than Tide. I love powdered Tide products, and with coupons and sales, I can get it cheap. So, I only use Persil for fun. The scent is wonderful!! In my opinion, Persil is still better than Tide with Bleach. Have fun with it!

but its not in the budget

Rich, I can send you a sample compact powder, it is currently on offer in one of our chain stores.
For whites or coloreds? Just mail me your address.

I am betting you will like it. The suds die down much faster than the suds from TIDE he. Used it on towels last night and three rinses in the SQ were enough. There was not as much froth whipped up in the first spin after the wash. If you use it with STPP, you use only a TBS or two unless you are washing mud wrestling garments.

It's not needed for every load and certainly not for colors so it's not like you would be using a lot of it. You do not need that much in a FL so it's something you have on hand for special loads, much like saffron which is expensive, but not used in every thing you cook. It is kept in the cupboard for special dishes.

Love it...

When using Persil Megaperls, I use 3 Tbsp plus 1 Tbsp STPP in our LG front loader. This works great for even large white loads.

I always stock up when I go on vacation to Europe or have family bring it over as it is so expensive here.

seeing this post

inspired me to order some too. Never use it before, $20.00 for 45 load? didn't think that was bad? (no shipping) Tide is that much now when its not on sale. Hope its all that you all say!

Happy washing

If one has a traditional toploader what would the dosage be for a machine that uses 19 gallons (15.8 Imperial gallons) for the wash cycle?

$20 for a 45-load box? I've always seen it at $45+ for a 45-load box, at least for Megaperls. Where did you see it for that price? I was under the impression that there was a MAP for all things Persil...

Not 100% sure but...

I'm 95% sure the argentinian Skip Perfect White is the same Persil sold in England.

Considering the Frigidaire Affinity with a full load of whites and sanitization cycle.
During the agitation, the suds reach 50% of the drum but it dissapears (with huge bubbles blowing) in half of the time the machine pauses for each reversion.
It really cleans really well (The best detergent I can find locally for whites)
It's scented exactly like Persil. First rinse is really dirty, second rinse is almost 100% clear, 3rd rinse is clear as tap water.

Even better, each 800g bag costs only 10 argentinian pesos (less than 3 american dollars)

Not sure if there's any online retailer in Argentina and I don't know about freight costs. I simply drive to the supermarket there as I'm 6 minutes away from the borders.

Sorry

Just checked it was 18+2 loads for $19.57 most common size was 40 load boxes. ( Amazon) And I believe it said it was German? Thats the best isn't it ??

Having A Stash The Size Of Tesco's Laundry Product Aisle

Am here to say while Persil (Henkel) is quite good, there are other detergents from both sides of the pond that perform equally well or better.

Only reason one really has a stash of Persil Sensitive is due to spying a great deal where a case of the stuff was less than the price of one megaperls box.

What Persil (Henkel) does have going for is it rinses cleanly. But then again so do many other detergents in my stash, well at least after the five rinses in my Miele.

Glad you said that, Launderess.

I was just about to ask why everyone wants to import Persil but nobody ever seems to want Euro Ariel. Yet when our European/British members discuss them, it seems Ariel has as many adherents as Persil!

Maybe Ariel is "tainted" by being a P&G product? Or do us Americans just think of it as a Mexican brand?

Have French Ariel "Excell" Gel

And yes it works a treat, but so does the French Persil and OMO liquid detergents as well.

Methinks many Americans prefer Persil is simply because it is the only "HE" Euro detergent sold in the USA (thanks to MieleUSA) easily found.

IIRC someone posted test results from a UK or EU consumer magazine that showed Ariel and other local detergents gave the same or better results than Persil (Henkel), and often for less money.

Yes, Ariel and Persil will usually score the same in tests by our consumer magazine. Detergents from Aldi and other store brands are frequently as good as the Persil/Ariel, though - for half the cost.
