Here's some practical scans from the very dated booklet that came with my early 80's Oster Commercial blender. Instrx state to use the Jetblend SS jar..however I don't know why you couldn't use the glass one. Regardless, if your blender is gathering cobwebs on the counter now you have another reason to use it.

Oh, and Toggle, alum is a chemical sometimes used in pickle making, and is food grade, and spirit of camphor is a cooling aromatic, available at better pharmacies. They both have astringent properties.
