bell & gossett
i used to consider bell&gossett circulating pumps and other hydronic parts to be
the best,but after about 2002 they started importing chinese crap and selling this
junk at the same price as the old,good,U.S. stuff-it started with the pump
couplers for the 1/12-1/4 hp range;the chinese ones were so shoddy they were
falling apart in the package as they were sent to me!!later the workmanship
quality was tightened up some,but the metal is still junk and these were flying
apart after only a couple weeks of operation...Have replaced a lot of these with
"woods"or other couplers-original u.s.B&G usually last for years.More and more
once high quality B&G products are now chinese junk and i now recommend Taco or
grundfos instead.
Amazing how companies will destroy their quality and reputation and jobs in
pursuit of higher markup...

True about Zest,Procter/Gamble sold the brand. It was a synthetic detergent bar with some soap in it and chelating agent to prevent hardwater film. At one time, it had triclosan,an antibacterial in it. Now it is just a scum-forming soap bar!
Pepsi with sugar is back, it's called Pepsi Throwback . Haven't tried it yet though

I go through a case of Pespi Throwback every other week. Even though I was brought up on Coke and actually prefer it. But Mexican (sugar) Coke costs $1 a bottle and Pepsi Throwback is regular priced.
If you're old enough to remember REAL Coke, this experiment will curl your socks. Order a Mexican Coke from one of the online exotic soda sellers. And buy one from the store. Have a spouse/friend pour both into glasses without you knowing which is which. Now, just SMELL them. That's all it takes to tell which is which. REAL Coke smells good. HFCS Coke smells like drain cleaner.

I've had a Pepsi Throwback within the past few weeks. At first, I thought I was drinking a diet soda, as it didn't have an overwhelming sweetness to it. It took a little getting used to, but still tasted pretty good.
I wish Coke would do the same thing instead of making everyone pay a higher price and rely on buying Coke made in Mexico. As arbilab said, Pepsi Throwback is in a more moderate price range.
When I'm not drinking cola, I mostly stick with Sierra Mist. It has sugar in it. I can definitely taste the difference between it, 7Up and Sprite.

For you soda drinkers, here is a link to an article about a Sun-Drop bottler in Shawano, WI, and Seymour Beverages of Seymour, WI. Twig's Beverages is the only Sun-Drop bottler left in the US that still uses glass bottles. Seymour Beverages in Seymour, WI is a Twig's Sun-Drop distributor, and bottles soda under its own name as well. Their big seller is 7oz. bottles, but they also bottle 10, 12, and 16oz. sizes as well.
Even though the linked article is almost 4 years old, it is still relevant today.

Not only did soap bars used to come in a variety of colors, but remember when you could buy Kleenex and toilet paper that could match your bathroom?
The last time I can remember buying colored toilet paper was back about 1993 or so, when I bought green toilet paper.
Can you buy cars with color matched interiors anymore?? Remember when you bought a blue interior, for your car, you got blue carpet, blue seats, blue dash, blue door trim and even a blue steering wheel.
Does any car have anything other than a black steering wheel anymore?
I guess it makes it cheaper and easier when the car comes down the assembly line just to slap a black steering wheel on it. Likewise can you get color interiors anymore (haven't bought a new car in many years). It seems likes it hard to get interior colors in anything other than depressing "charcoal" or a beige/brown.
Has anyone noticed it's hard to find pinch-pleated drapes and traverse rods? Seems most drapes and curtains now are just scrunched on a rod and you have to tug them over the rod to open and close them. It's like we traveled back in time to the 18th century.
It seems technology should increase, not decrease with time, doesn't it?

If you miss the taste of old Fig Newtons, go to Aldi's and buy their knock-off version of them.
If you want really tasty soda pop, do what Laundress said, but you can also find great local sodas such as Foxon Park here in Connecticut (wonderful Birch Beer and the best Quinine Water I've found (yes, better than "Q")
