Thanks chaps , i do have some where a Which magazine ( similar to CA ) which shows earlier bendix dishwashers ,this one is from the era when Thorn appliances must have bought out Bendix. Upon further investigation the door pannel is not easily removed from the cabinet like on the hotpoint but forms the chasis to hold springs timer etc so not sure if brave enough to dismantle to get it to the spray shop, if not i will mask and re spray it white in garden ( as the blue is old Ford transit van blue!)
The investigation showed the saftey switch loose so now it stops as you open the door ( and with that big spray thats useful as first attempt spray nearly hit ceiling.)
Dan i live near Consett , what appliances do you have? and Magic clean i know the machine you refer to, my Mums neighbours have the Bosch version which is vertually identical to my old hotpoint apart from the piano key and i think extra sound insulation , funny they are a bit snobbish regarding applinaces and think hotpoint cheap , did nt want to tell them both machines were the same, in fact a lot of the workings on both are made by Siemens!
Oh and Westytoploader it has a seperate drain pump !
Anyone any ideas why the heating element hums and buzzes , i cannot see any loose wires or bad contacts, also it is not a fan dry machine, i know some electric ovens used to humm as there elements got on a bit so its perhaps only that, but i am always paranoid around newly aquired appliances !!
