OUTRAGEOUS Pricing!

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Last fall when I bought my front load LG 2501 washer on sale for 599 with free delivery;

A local newspaper had an advert for a 4 year old used FL LG for 150 more; and with wording "firm price" you pick up !

Maybe their FL cost 1099 new thus 749 seemed OK for a used one? :)

This machine was 299.99 at best when brand new, even on sale.........

some issues with price comes from people buy when it the NEW kid on the block, and at TOP price.....then a few years pass, prices drop, and they want to sell at a realatively lower price than they paid, only to discover, you can find the same machine, brand new for a cheaper price.......

I had one lady trying to sell a set, and the price was more than what a new one would cost, she claimed she was laid off, and has to sell some of her stuff to pay her bills, and yes, times are rough for some, but losing your job does not automatically make your stuff worth more all of a sudden!!!.....unfortunately for some, if you want to move it fast, it would have to be at 1/2 or less the retail price of todays pricing....

this is no different than when personal computers, or big screen, plasma, LCD, TVS came out, and you paid a premium to have the latest, given some time the price has come down, and now these first buyers are trying to sell their merchandise for half of what THEY paid, but thats more than what you would pay today!....

My odd swag for used unknown stuff

My mental mindset last fall was with my new 600 buck LG if it totally blows up in in 5 to 6 years I will not freak out; ie 120 to 100 per year.

ie lack of confidence!

Thus a local's unknown 4 year old machine to me is already half shot; ie past the 50 percent point as far as money and risks with buying used.

Thus to equal a new washer a local used one would have to be less than 200 bucks; ie my 600 new minus 4 years at 100 per year.

ie the max I would pay is 200 bucks for a 4 year old LG; *IF* I was not thinking straight!

With all the varied FL washers with bad bearings; my odd thinking is a 749 buck used LG that is 4 years old seems like somebody wishing for a fool.

That is easily double what someone could pay for a better equipped Direct Drive Admiral washer today.

Hopefully these folks just don't know what they're doing. The cost of putting a $575 auction on eBay will teach them fast. Even if the auction is not successful, the listing fee will be more than a few cents.

a fool and his money are soon...

You have got to be kidding! Judging from the console style, that one is from the same era(early 2000s) as my 3 speed Elite. Heck, it was only $499 brand new.

Crazy!

I saw a Bissell Proheat on Ebay (brand new) and the buy it now price was 875.00!

I wonder if they just think someone who doesn't know any better will actually pay that.
