OxyClean “activated”

Was googling around and noticed that the website for OxiClean claims that their oxygen bleach is “activated” ?
I thought that P&G held a patent on activated oxygen bleaching systems for their powdered detergents?

The TAED "activator," if you want to call it that, is used in a lot of products, including Clorox 2. P&G did have their own, NOBS, but it seems to have fallen into disuse.

Was in Target yesterday and saw something called Tide "Ultra Oxi Whitening Boost". Comes in a powder format - 66 load size box and is intended to be used with detergent. The 3.56lb box is $9.99. Among its other claims is "tackles odors", "whitens whites", "tough on stains" and my personal favorite, "lifts dinge from colors". Main ingredients are Sodium C10-16 Alkylbenznesulfonate", C10-16 pareth), Buffers (sodium carbonate and sodium silicate), sodium polyacrylate, cellulose gum, bleach (sodium carbonate peroxide), bleach activator (TAED - whatever that is), enzymes (subtilisin...

Thanks Supersuds for the reply and link to old thread.
I don't use OxiClean often as I’ve always purchased pure sodium percarbonate on line.
But if OxiClean now has an activated bleaching system..maybe it’s better than the inactivated pure stuff??

There's no mention of TAED or bleach activator in the ingredient lists of a couple of the oxi-clean products I just looked at, but I've not gone through them all.

Clorox 2 powder and their "packs" contains TAED according to their list https://www.clorox.com/products/clorox2-for-colors-stain-remover-and-color-brightener-powder/

Here, Vanish contains TAED. I did look into buying a small amount of TAED to occasionally use with the mid range detergent powder I buy, which contains oxygen bleach, but no activator, but with postage it worked out cheaper to buy vanish.

Wonder how OxiCkean is getting away with calling their product “activated” since there is no TAED involved.
My understanding is that ratios between TAED and sodium percarbonate have to be precise in order for effective bleaching/brighting

Actually the hotter the water the better it works.

Oxygen bleach stain remover products containing sodium percarbonate, but without TAED/NOBS (so hydrogen peroxide) usually recommend 40°C and above. eg Astonish:

However it is much more effective at temperatures above 60°C.

Products containing TAED as well, to produce peracetic acid, usually recommend 30°C or above, and I have seen some say they will work at temperatures as low as 20°C.

Higher will still be better though. I've read the peracetic acid is also better at breaking down organic matter, and destroying bacteria spores, and it is supposed to work a little quicker.

TAED is also included in some washing machine cleaners such as Dr Beckmann's, surprisingly Afresh doesn't.
