Our P&G rep left 5 boxes of this yesterday for us to try and said that it has "increased preformance" After trying it we find is is the Exact same as regular Tide W/ Bleach same odor same texture and same blue crystals. I have not seen it in this area yet has anyone else seen it in other parts of the country? He also told me it will sell for about $ 3.00 more per box. Wow thanks P & G for another High Performance Scam!

As a matter of fact, I've seen large boxes in Costco with the same logo as this (although I don't recall the "High Performance" logo)....it caught my eye, because the box front definitely had more white background and the Tide packaging rarely changes....

I will definitely verify for you the next time I'm over there.

I use this detergent and it does work very well. I use it mostly for whites and I am pretty impressed with the results. I found it at Costco and at Sams club. I have not seen it in any other store.

Mike

What Temperature are you useing it in? We tried several loads and found it djust as good but no better than regular tideW/bleach And was not worth teh extra cost.

Which my suspicious mind would leave me to believe that the supermarket version of Tide with Bleach will be cheapened somehow (sigh)....

IMHO Tide with Bleach has always been a very effective product.

Oxydolfan1

P & G always goes UP NEVER down on pricing they do change the boxes and bottles from time 2 time but usually put less in them and charge more! They are masters at it !

Sudsman, oh, I know...what I meant by "cheapening the product" is that they'll dilute or add fillers to the supermarket version of Tide with Bleach just to make money off it!

Yes, they are masters of deception....not only do they like to play around with bottle sizes and shapes, but also the cap sizes and scoops!

Agiflow, I've learned from this and other sites that it's not good to throw chlorine bleach in with Tide with Bleach, because the oxygen bleach in the detergent supposedly cancel each other out.

That said, I've noticed no real whitening and stain removal difference between the two, when bleach is added...what I HAVE noticed is that the Tide with Bleach product generates far less useful sudsing than Tide, and rinses better in my soft water.

Maybe P&G has reformulated TWB to use a percarbonate bleach versus the old perborate formula.

Perborate/borax and such are or will soon be banned in EU states as borates are toxic to plant life. Indeed Persil from Germany has switched from perborate bleach with a bleaching activator to percarbonate bleach.

Sodium percarbonate bleaches at lower temps verus perborate, and does not need an activator in most instances.

As far as TWB being better than regular Tide for whites, unless one is planning to add some type of bleach, either oxyen or chlorine, TWB is streets ahead of regular Tide for stain removal/whitening/brightening IMHO. In fact have stopped adding additional oxygen bleach when using TWB, as it does a smashing job on it's own.

By the way P&G's activated bleaching system, which is also found in several other "....with bleach" detergents from Proctor and Gamble not only hold many patents, but judged best for stain removal in all water temps by any number of tests/ratings. Tide Coldwater contains a version of this "activated" bleach, and is the reason why whites and such come out so bright, with stains shifted even when washing in cool or cold water.

Don't know, haven't used it on anything much as cannot really abide the scent. Few times have used TCW is on white and light colours, use Cheer HE,Cheer Free liquid, or Persil "Black Magic" for darks and non-colourfast laundry.

Will say according to Consumer Reports last detergent ranking, TCW and TWB were rather "low" on the OBA scale. However this may be, many report Tide detergents "fade" certian items.

Tide w/b is far better than plain tide

I am just not sure that the "new" tide w/b is better than the old tide w/b.

Launderess , I have tried to find out just that.. I also supsected that they changed from perborate to percarbonate however they will not tell anything when asked except that it is a new formula. Our rep in coming in Friday at 3 AM to wash with my washman. I will find out more then and have more extensive test on it too. He seems to think the reason that I wasn't just "blasted away by it" is beacuse we did not use a proper amount of it. he wants us to use it by weight not by cup or scoop/. He says that 1 cup is really only about 4 oz. by weight. I can't believe he is coming in that early but for some reason he REALLY wants this account. Will post more on the happings Friday .

Well all things being equal, percarbonate bleach generally out performs perborate bleach at lower wash temps. Perborate bleach needs 140F and above water to really get going, whereas percarbonate will bleach at 120F to 105F, and even in cold water, though contact time may need to be increased.

Perborates were the first "oxygen bleaches", back through the years with detergents like Persil, and Oxydol. However back then it was also common to boil or at least wash whites in very hot water, which is great for borate bleach. As wash temps moved to 120F at (hot), warm, cool and even cold perborate bleach needed something to get and keep it working in the wash cycle, hence bleach activators.

Now if Tide is following Persil/Germany's lead, the perborates will be replaced with percarbonate, and that means no bleach activator. So in theory the replacement of two chemicals with one, should lead to lower costs, but then again perhaps reformulating the detergent had associated costs. Persil powder certianly has not come down in price since they dropped perborate bleach.

Have been trying to find a MSDS for this new "high performace" Tide, but no such luck. Cannot imagine P&G will have both "high performance" and regular TWB on the shelves, as it would imply the later somehow is inferior to the former. Well, at least to moi. Think P&G will roll out the high performance version to replace TWB, thus giving them a way to charge more, if indeed they will as consumers will think it is a totally new product. If consumers found there was no difference between the two detergents as some here have reported in terms of performance, who in their right mind would pay more for the new product?

P&G has always been good at rebranding Tide every so often, to keep the brand "fresh", and up the price, so perhaps this is what is happening with TWB/High Performance

Sudsman, my guess is that, if you call the Tide number and ask if the Costco product contains perborate versus percarbonate for skin reactivity reasons, they would have to tell you.

I remember two price hikes that were directly related to reformulation claims...when TBW and GWB began making germ-removal claims during the "antibacterial" craze, and when plain Tide touted the addition of a peroxide "oxy"-based stain removal system.

Oxydolfan--- I use powdered Tide Coldwater on everything but my 'black' loads. Black clothes tend to look a bit 'dusty' or faded when washed in detergents that contain optical brighteners. So I wash blacks in Cheer For Darks or Woolite For Darks.

When washing highly stained white loads with Tide CW, I add chlorine bleach and get absolutely amazing cleaning results. It's my favorite detergent. Be forewarned that liquid Tide Coldwater doesn't remove stains as well as the powdered version. I've tried both and confirmed it. If you can only find the liquid version, I'd use to another version of Tide---at least for highly stained loads. It does a fine job on normally soiled loads.

Frigilux, I agree. In my water, the Coldwater liquid does not work any better than the inexpensive liquids I've tried.

The powder, on the other hand, is a standout, and was quite a pleasant surprise.

Tide c/w/ liquid

I agree we have tried both here and the liquid does not perform near as well as the powder .

but tide w/b seems to out perform them both .

Pg Rep came and Washed

I was shocked he worked almost 10 hours.. poor baby. I really was in awe when after 3 or 4 loads if finally got the formulation correct and the work was spotless. I must say that High Performance Tide With Bleach really does a very good job. And I am not one to sing P & G praises. But is does work.. At this point I am not sure about the cost but from what I understand I think it will cost more in the long run than many of the other products I have tried.
