this forum is for your opinion, and just that, doesn't matter if you agree with it or not, we like to hear what you think, just DON"T tell me what to think, and that your opinion is the only correct one, we as GROWN UPS live our lives as we like, wether it is the style of machine we use, what water we drink, what car we drive, or home we live in, there needs to be MUTUAL RESPECT for others, until the day comes that you pay my bills, I think we should leave this kind of hissy fits and inmaturity to my 9 year olds......

P&G are making some changes, some good, some bad, but if anybody has the input to give them about their product line it should be US, many of US should make a call to them and give our fact based opinion, lets not just share our experiences here, let the maufacturers know what you think of their products, and what their doing, WE can surely make an impact, don't just give your name, tell them where your from (the fantastic site of AUTOMATICWASHERS.org of coarse), let them know WE know what were talking about!

Somewhere amongst the 57 variations of Tide, I'd like to see a super-low sudsing version of liquid and powdered Tide HE with Color Clean Bleach Alternative. All of P&G's detergents have tenacious suds.

A friend to went to England last spring brought back some Persil (tablets) for me. Even in my softened water, the suds are completely gone by the final rinse in my frontloader. This is never the case for with Tide (and most other US detergents, for that matter.)

The closest I've come to a clean final rinse with US detergents is SA8.

Too bad about SA8...i did like it before they reformulated it. I dont buy it now cause I cant see paying that kinda price when Tide cleans better. Used to be the other way around. I went to the Amway site and they said all SA8 products were being discontinued.

P & G has gotten themselves into a bit of a pickle in the recent economy it seems.

They've come out with these "Basic" renditions of all their products.

As someone who's always thought their stuff was too expensive to begin with (*), if they offer a "Basic" product, aren't they somewhat admitting that their "regular" products were overpriced? If I pinch pennies and buy the "Basic", (which is usually still more pricey than store brands and competing brands) and it works ok, even if the economy goes up again, why would I go back to spending more money on the full-price product?

I've always been thrifty, but I know that over the past 2 yrs (job layoff, then return to grad school) my thriftiness has gotten more intense. If my grandmother was alive, she'd rave at my couponing* and ability to stretch a dollar, but I know that a lot of my buying/shopping habits now are permanently changed- regardless of what happens with the economy.

(*) and what's with P & G's skimpy coupons?! They're the only ones who push out teensy little .25 & .35 coupons anymore. Sorry, but that's barely worth the paper its printed on, and the effort it takes me to find my scissors. A coupon isn't even going to barely get my attention unless it's MINIMUM .50, which is $1 after doubling. lol and sorry about my rant.

Oh I don't know about that. Have seen products in new packaging however, so maybe the old stock is what is going.

SA8 still exists. Amway just released a reformulation of many of their cleaning products and a complete repackage. They are now called "Legacy of Clean". SA8 powder formula remains the same They've reformulated the stain spray, trizyme, liquid detergent and delicate wash. The old formulas of stain spray and liquid are going away. Looks like they're going after the "green" market. This applies to the cleaning and dish care products too. I haven't tried any of the new stuff yet, probably will order next week. HTH, Todd

Tide Basic - Regional Rollout?

Has anyone used the Tide Basic product? If so, how does it compare to the other P&G offerings? I haven't seen it anywhere in the stores here in Southern California.

Interesting. When I type in "Quixtar.com" as the address (rather than Amway), I get listings for both classic-looking SA8 detergent in a box AND the new Legacy Of Clean repackaged SA8, which appears to be in a bag (at least the large size is).

Funny how many companies are tripping over themselves to package things in green...preferably with a leaf as the primary graphic.

Well with Cheer getting a value repositioning and the possible elimination of the Era brand, we have...

Tide as the Premium brand. Equivalent: Ariel, Dash (IT)
Gain as the Midprice brand. Equivalent: Bold 2in1, Dash 2in1
Cheer as the Value brand. Equivalent: Daz, Bonux
Ivory Snow/Dreft as the Gentle & Baby brands. Equivalent: Fairy
