I am pooped.. I have been out car shopping today.. I relly want a new car, but i am credit challanged.. Ok fine.. I found and fell in love with a 1999 Chevy Prizm with 30K.. But the salesman shot me a price that the salesmanger did not approve..GRRRRR.... So it wound up being $1000 more than he said... The bank approved me for the car, but i need another $1000 down... Forget it...

Several dealers and cars later, i still have no stikin car...

I am going tommrow to look at a new Focus... I don't want a new car, but every time i get approved, all they wanna sell me is a new car at a cheap price, not a nice used car that i relley would like better...

I sold cars for two years, i never put people through this crap...

Has any one else been through this?? It's driving me nuts.. Chad

At that point......

When the sales manager did not approve the price given to you by the salesman....I would have said NO THANKS immediately and left.

I did.. I have bought several cars from them, but they got a new salesmanager who nobody likes and the salesman said he would probably be fired..

Its a shame as they are a nice outfit..

Well, if you sold cars, you probably know the games that dealers play with customers. Good cop/bad cop, agree to everything but leave the bottom line blank, try to get them to sign with the bottom line blank, go back and forth into the "sales manager's office", etc.

I even had one dealer jerk me around one saturday morning. He insisted I bring an ungodly amount of cash for them to "hold" while they negotiated with me. I went along with it, more out of curiousity about what they would do. I told them what vehicle (motorcycle) I wanted and how much I was willing to pay. They hemmed and hawed and kept on trying to get me to sign the sales agreement without listing the final price. After an hour of this crap I finally gave up. I had to demand my cash back three times before they would give it back so I could leave. I promptly went to a competing dealer, and he instantly gave me the deal I wanted all along. A real sleaze outfit, they finally went out of business but I understand the sleazeball owner opened up another dealership next door to a military base to prey upon the young and impressionable.

Almost makes me want to buy a Saturn.

THATS wHERE I WHENT! A SATURN DEALER! OF ALL PLACES!

They chevy place i worked was a sleezeball outfit, the hyundai/acura outfit was not...

I also discoverd my credit report was wacko..I mean wayyy wacko....

There are two cars i never financed on there

Go BMW

I hate car shopping as well, but the salesman at the BMW dealership could not be nicer. Its not like the normal car dealerships, you are actually a customer and not just another deal... I hope you find a great car
Cheers,

Saturn....

Stopped their no-pressure sales tactic policy in my area recently...

Oh, well....back to the "Auto Mall", lol!

I found a focus i can live with tonight at the ford dealer i use for service, so we will see how that goes... LoL

I LOVE Carmax. Last year, I went in with a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan with 205K miles, out with a 2005 Chrysler Town and and Country with 21K miles in 2 hours, and I am currently challenged with credit also.

I will never go anywhere else. New cars are a rip off.

Never buy a car on the weekend, if you can avoid it.

Try a monday or tuesday, when they're bored. They wanna sell a car those days, and cut the crap.

Weekends? It's a circus there and it's like shooting fish in a barrel for them. Tuesday evening? It's deserted and there's nothing selling.

I ended up paying list for my '06 mustang (V8!!!). The dealer wasn't too ammused that I got that out of him :)

Car salesmen

You're not kidding when you say that car dealerships are full of bs games! I went with my sister to one of the dealships here in the small town that I live in. We live in the mountains of eastern kentucky and there is one family that has a monopoly over all the dealerships in this area. As we are classic women, ages 50 and 53, I suppose the salesmen thought we were easy targets. When we asked about one model, the young man tried to steer us to more expensive models. He advised us to be sure what we wanted and to be sure that we were aware of what a car purchase entails. This jacka** even suggested that we call our husbands for "advice". So, my sister pulled out a wad of cash (she was paying cash), looks at the guy and tells him that she is going out of town to make her purchase since he thought we were so stupid. The look on his face was priceless and we laughed all the way to the out of town location. Sleeze balls around here!

They must think we're stupid

A car dealer around here has radio ads stating that they have a large inventory of used cars from the mainland that they are selling up to 50% off blue book. Since Matson lines typically charges in the neighborhood of $1000 to ship a car here, how are they making that pay off. I mean stuff just doesn't MAGICALLY get here-it must be shipped and there is always a cost.

This dealer has the most annoying ads too

Walk away

When we were searching for our car, we walked into a couple of dealerships we hated. We walked out of there and we never talked to the salesperson again. Here's my story:

We were going to purchase a mid range minivan from Trillium Pontiac in York region. They quoted us a very good price, about $32K. It was about 8:30PM on Saturday when we called them and said we were going to purchase it from them, and they told us the price would stand when we came back on Monday. On Monday, they told us they never quoted us a price of $32K, and they gave us a price of $35K instead. We walked out of there and never came back. I think it was for the best, since we bought a fully-loaded van from City Pontiac for $36K instead. I would have loved to see the crappy salespersons' faces if we drove back in our new van to Trillium and told them about our wonderful purchase, what we were willing to spend if they kept their word, and how many friends of ours would never be buying a car from them. So, if you are near Toronto, NEVER BUY A CAR FROM TRILLIUM!

My little story for today.

I gave up on the car.. Even car max turned me down... Ughh... Too many medical bills and the credit union i used to belong to screwed up my credit report beyond belief... The ford place was the best and i wouldn't heistate to go back to them again.. They did help me figure out the credit issues so i can fix them and in a few months i'll try again.. Groan
