Bought this to use in my kitchen. It's torn down and ready to go to the body shop. What colour? Mint green or white?

How would it look in the kitchen?

Photoshop makes things to easy to move, lol!!

I say white. True to the era, and you can paint your walls any other color at any time, without having to repaint the fridge.

Agreed. Maybe a warm white would be best. It would give it a slightly antique aura while still being true to its origins.

BTW, I have a similar single door GE fridge from the 40's. It also needs a complete repainting, and a door seal, but it runs just fine and the interior is minty.

WOW! I was leaning toward the mint green. I am being out voted. Well tomorrow I will put the white fridge in there for you guys. (oh my aching back) <:

I guess I should add that it doesn't matter to me if they only made white appliances in 1948, or that I might paint the kitchen another colour one day. I could always repaint the fridge again, and this is an old fridge, not a Duesenburg. I am only after what looks the coolest. In other words, think BLING. (go figure, he's from the hood) lol!

White

Because if you paint it mint green it's going to look like one of those fake "Big Chill" fridges and your appliance challenged guests are going to think it's new, not the beautiful old machine that it is.

I have never seen one of those GE combos in anything but white. But it's going to be a great fridge for you no matter what color you paint it.

Rick,

My mom's dad painted his 1947 PANK to match the new Frigidaire Imperial range.

It looked great.

Who cares about 'original' when you can be happy? Go for it! I think mint green would be groovy!

I also distinctly remember a grey monitor top in our church's tea kitchen, so let's not be too sure about no color before the 50's.

(And before any of the blue-rinsed queens says a word, I am the guy who just took in the compressor plate cover from the Shelvador to make sure we got the white from 1947 not the white from the 1950's we used on the 1953 Rainbow Range...)

I loved that you decided to give Audrey's dress a make-over too! (I'll have to let her know)

I know personally that if I gave my GE Combo a nice new shade of white it would look just spectacular. But the mint does look good in your kitchen.

Ben

I love the wood cabinets, not big on the mint green. Can you photo shop some other colors? White,Red,Brown,Black. I would like to see what enhances the chrome...

Jim

My aunt moved into a new home in 64,had her 50 2dr,painted coppertone,it was beautiful, and I dont like coppertone. In the late 20s and thirties kitchen where different colors.I even have a nice 1930 Easy washer with spin dryer and vacuum cup washing in 2tone green, the tub is speckled. The nice thing about paint if you dont like it change it.

Sorry Jim,I just ain't got that kind of time.<: But you are sure welcome to try that yourself and post them here for us.

So Ben, are you really going to tell her about the dress?? And BTW, you really should go get that other fridge. You know how small the freezers are. Yo could have a matched set! I bet they would take $25.00.....

Hey Steve, I am not a tv watcher so I don't know what that is. However here is a link to the history of Bling Bling. <:

Thanks to all of you for your input. As I said, we will see the fridge in white tomorrow. Then we can do a real comparison of the two colours.

I'm with rickr:

I think that you should go with the Mint Green, especially if that is the Color that you actually wanted anyway. After all, it is your house, your kitchen and your Fridge and you have to live with it, where others will be basically visitors of your house and you.

Good Luck Rick, keep us Posted as to which you end using and the ending results.

Peace and a Mint Green Fridge for your great looking Kitchen, Steve

I agree partially with 58limited......

It's YOUR kitchen, do what you want!

Are you a purist? MUST it be ONLY as it was built?

Now for my vote and I know I'm in the minority here (but I prefer that...*wink*) I say go minty green because it (based on your photo) would look great! IMHO

Oh she wants everything PINK!!

Well, here is the fridge in white...

I am so tired from moving these heavy fridges in and out of the kitchen... <:
