Painting Kenmore 80 Series Washer

Hey everyone!

I have a 21 year old Kenmore washing machine. This website has provided me a lot of assistance in restoring this machine. I am hoping I can get some insight on how to go about the right way to paint it. What my research, this stuff ( first link) is really good. I have some very noticeable yellow spots on the front of the water. I am thinking it would just be best to do the entire cabinet (as I am quite comfortable taking it off). I am not sure if a primer would be needer or sandpaper. I read just a thorough cleaning beforehand may suffice.

Has anyone had any luck with this? I am ideally looking for an inexpensive high gloss look.

I paint all the appliances I sell with RustOLeum, thinned with acetone.

Thank you. Do you have any before and after pictures you could share? So basically, you just wipe down the appliance beforehand with acetone then apply the RustOLeum?

If it's rusty, lightly sand off the rusty areas. Then I either use a spray gun, or a foam roller, and apply a thinned with acetone RustOLeum.

Rust

Actually, there is no rust at all. Just a few yellow spots. I don't want to paint one section and be able to tell the difference. Can you tell it was painted with that stuff?
