Pete, thanks so much for sharing this wonderful adventure with us. I would say that you had a most productive and fun visit.

Thanks again Pete for the visual tour of Matt's shop.

It's always great to see that someone cares and is saving the old machines that still work rather than crushing them for the metal.

Wow, what a neat trip! It's great when members can get together and buy/swap/play with machines!

I can't wait to take a trip to Grand Rapids! What fun. It reminds me of the shop my Dad worked in. Never know what you'll find from day to day. Thanks for taking the time to post the pics. And thanks to Matt and his family too!

gotta tell you all this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

took washer apart today, cleaned everything! outer tub is in great shape, inner tub like new, oiled motor and bearings i could get to very carefully, and i do mean that! wiped all rollers with alcohol and got a lot of dirt off them. took out pump and installed gravity drain. put it back together and just washed my first load, it runs like new! took pics and am gonna post seperately, i am in heaven!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh no!!!!!!!!

your shop is not just work, your shop is an appliance collector's dream! i felt like i had gone to oz and you were the wizard! but i don't think "royal" looks much like "toto" does he? and "almost" is definately not a cowardly lion!

hey, rollermatic got a good tune up today and runs great! gonna post pics seperately! did my first load tonite, was in heaven! nothing like that sound of that jet cone pulsator! if you find any more let me know i'll find a way to buy em even though i spent my appliance money for awhile last week!

take care

That is one beautiful Refrigerator !!!!

Also enjoyed seeing pictures of the cat helping you make a selection. Cats are wonderful !!!!

Regarding the 1-18: The first one I saw in operation was a white Imperial with a glass window on the lid. It was in a shop class, used for cleaning towels. That machine would beat to the rhythm of some Black Sabbath and Alice Cooper tunes, which, of course, matched my musical tastes perfectly. My mother's old Whirlpool Supreme could not possibly come close to having that cool factor this Jet Cone agitator had; no way.

One Summer, I stayed with a couple who had an avocado like the one pictured in this thread. That was the machine I used to do my laundry while there. I could never get over what it was like to play with. It would just jump up and down with loads of duds, gobs of excitement, and lots of noise. I was hooked! It's something that nobody will understand until they have experienced it first hand.

A couple years later, they got a Maytag which I just hated. I would throw my cloths in, add whatever, and abandon it. It was never the same. I really do hope your Rollermatic can provide a lifetime of service, soberleaf. Because using one of these machines just once can be just like taking that first shot of heroin. The withdrawal symptoms are a bear!

alice cooper you say?

my first concert i went to was an alice cooper concert! 1972!

think what i like best about this washer is the solid tub and the overflow rinse. i would use it as my main machine but am too paranoid about wearing it out, so i'm keeping my other washers in the laundry room so i won't be tempted to go to the rollermatic every time i need to was a load!

am modifying my frigidaire front loader today, adding a switch to turn off mechanical timer to extend washes and spins, and adding a switch so i can put more water in the thing and let it wash the way God intended it to wash!
